First Minister Standing Opens
On March 31, Supreme Chancellor Lethen opened standing for first minister with an insightful and inspired speech on the difficulties facing people enduring the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, while also encouraging citizens' to stand up in our region and quoting American President Abraham Lincoln when suggesting that people appeal to their "better angels" to see where they can help our community best.

Currently there are three tickets in the race for first minister, with United Vietussia and Mr Verteger having released their platforms so far.

Unrelenting Radio
This week saw two new radio shows broadcast on EBC Radio. The first featured Calvin Coolidge (Calvin), Kuramia, and Sopo discussing the results of a poll conducted by The Panda's Pen, where citizens drafted their "dream team" cabinet. The results of the poll, and the analysis conducted by Calvin provided a great insight into the current executive, and a look into the minds of Europeian preferences for Cabinet positions at this time; commentary on the results from the poll and article was incredibly entertaining, and well worth listening in to.

The second broadcast featured Second Minister and Minister of Communications Istillian discussing the past term with Calvin Coolidge. In the broadcast Istillian announced his candidacy for first minister, and Calvin posed some probing and fascinating questions for Istillian. For further listening, general entertainment, and political discussion on Europeia, all recorded shows can be found on the EBC Radio showreel.

April Fools
On April 1, First Minister Dax released previously classified logs between three of Europeia's most well known citizens, Calvin Coolidge, Sopo, and HEM, in which they were reportedly plotting a long term power-play through testing Executive Orders . In the announcement, Dax also stated her intention to leave the region completely after serving out her term as first minister. The Europeian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) provided breaking news coverage on the announcement - which thankfully turned out to be an elaborate April Fool's prank.

Treaties and Victories
On March 30, Chief of State Pichtonia announced victory in Xedas, from the ongoing allied hold in the region. Even though the allied forces were met with some difficulties in the hold, we emerged victorious. In the report Pichtonia also announced well deserved promotions to dedicated sailors from the Europeoan Republican Navy (ERN). An overall positive report on the state of the ERN.

On March 31, Pichtonia put an alliance agreement with the region Kantrias forward in the Senate. The alliance would solidify Europeia's long term ties with the Kantrias; to quote the agreement, "Europeia and Kantrias have endeavored to develop democratic political systems rooted in equality, liberty and justice."
The alliance is still at vote with the Senate, although a majority of senators have already voted in favour of this proposal.

Finally from the chief of state, a cross promotional media agreement with the international news outlet, NationStates Today, is now in its second reading with the Senate after being announced by Pichtonia.
The agreement would be for "the purpose of mutual promotion of one another’s content in order to provide a greater diversity of information to the interregional community." NationStates Today content would be promoted through Europeia via its Discord channel, and importantly, Europeian content would also be featured in the Weekend Edition paper of NationStates Today - a mutually rewarding contract.

Communications Keep On Keeping On
The EBC started off the week with an independent op-ed project from Ervald titled "The Failed Renewal of Europeia," in which Ervald provides a comparative discussion from his experiences studying urban planning, to the structure of Europeia's executive government, and provides a detailed insight on the pre and post executive split, ultimately arguing for unification under a single executive again.

Calvin Coolidge also wrote for the EBC this week, with a new and unique approach to the structure of our government, providing a possible scenario where our Cabinet positions are directly elected, rather than nominated by a (in this scenario) president. While this piece is controversial, there are some interesting points Calvin makes, well worth reviewing for creative ways forward in our government.

On April 4, Xecrio made his debut back into the EBC with a motivational exclusive article; providing a glance at the prior term, and looking at the struggles we face globally with the COVID-19 pandemic, but positively provided an outlook towards the future with suggestions for what people can do in their real lives, and what they can do to be involved in Europeia. Xecrio signed off the article, to quote, "In Europeia, or in real life, whatever it may be. Stay safe." A well written piece that remains helpful for all aspects of our lives.

Finally, Maowi, on behalf of the EBC, is conducting a poll gathering public opinion on the Executive Modernisation debate underway across the region - to have your say complete the poll within the next few days, with results and analysis to be provided shortly thereafter.

World Assembly Affairs, I Choose YOU
On April 3, Councilor of World Assembly Affairs Izzy released the long anticipated Pokémon Euro Version sign up sheet, a Council of World Assembly Affairs initiative encouraging people to join in with work in the council, uniquely using a love of Pokémon as an incentive. Sign ups are available now, and as Pokémon availability will rotate every 60 days in periods called seasons, many have already jumped at the opportunity to obtain their starter Pokémon.
