The United States did not have more troops when you consider NVA regulars, VC main force units, VC provincial forces, and VC irregulars. In fact there was something on the order of 10 Communist soldier to every 1 American soldier.
Australia had more troops in Vietnam than the Soviet Union and DPRK combined. Overall including all belligerents the forces of the west(anti-communist) outnumbered communist forces 3-1.The United States did not have more troops when you consider NVA regulars, VC main force units, VC provincial forces, and VC irregulars. In fact there was something on the order of 10 Communist soldier to every 1 American soldier.
Of course the US Army did not consider anything but NVA and VC main forces so on paper it looked like they had an advantage in numbers.
