So, it’s that time again! What time is that? Well the one where changes are made to the gameplay of NationStates and the forums become swamped with “OMG HOW DARE YOU CHANGE THINGS!?!?!” What’s this.... it has been popular? Oh my...
Anyway, for the astute, you’ll notice there is a new ‘Factbook’ Feature on your nation pages when you go on the following link
Here you will be able to design your nation’s Factbook without the need of linking to lengthy, and often historic, Forum threads which are rarely visited after being posted. Here’s an example of what one can do with this new feature and, honestly, I think it looks amazing.
It has been running in an open beta test and, so far, there have been few errors – the biggest issue being a maximum of 10 topics which, as time goes one, will need to be expanded for this to be a success. There have also been some worries by those who roleplay and that people will take their nation’s Factbook as being ‘the law’ for say how large their defence is and that their leader walks around in solid metal armour and can never die. But, honestly, this happened with forum-posted Factbooks anyway and will always happen.
On the positive side of the news, NS Admin have also been willing to import more-and-more of the forum code to be used to allow people to make them look impressive. The level of work that [violet] has been putting into this is very commendable which has been garnishing more-and-more praise from players.

However, does this mean the end of the NS Wiki? Will we see a split between users of the two or will the NationStates Factbooks be a gateway to the NS Wiki? Or was this a strategic ploy by the NS Admin to distract everyone from the opening up of the Recruitment Scrips?
