Honoured Citizens Day Celebrations
The Ministry of Culture hosts celebrations

Arnhelm, Europeia - Honoured Citizens Day is a time-honored holiday in Europeia. Every 2nd of December, citizens gather together to recognize those rare citizens who were awarded an Ovation or Triumph. This year featured a surprise Triumph, the first one awarded since 2015.
This year, Minister of Culture Ellenburg kicked off festivities with fun forum games and a space for speeches to be delivered by Honoured Citizens. Games included a Gala, a space for Thank You Notes, and Hunger Games among other things. Speeches were delivered by such prominent Honoured Citizens as Deepest House, Lethen, and Kuramia. Citizens reflected on their journey through Europeia, as well as what makes an Honoured Citizen and how Europeia treats its Honoured Citizens.
The Honoured Citizens Gala was the premier event. With citizens joining in and participating throughout the night. President JayDee delivered the speech at the event, stating: “Among us there are citizens old and new who have given so much to this community, sacrificing years so that we may know the strength and prosperity we now enjoy”. In a surprise announcement during the Gala, it was also announced that Grand Admiral Vor would be nominated for a Triumph.
Grand Admiral Vor is a successful sailor in the Europeian Republican Navy (ERN). Currently serving his second term as Grand Admiral, Vor is only the second sailor to be recognized with the title of Master & Commander. This title is shared only with Kraketopia, who also received a Triumph for his military efforts.
Vor has a special talent for rallying troops and coordinating military efforts and is currently the only ERN sailor to be included in LibCord command. Most notably, he has assisted in the coordination of Operation Red October, as well as the liberation of the Philippines and HK. His nomination was warmly received in the Swakistek Conference Hall, with Speaker Elio stating: “Congratulations Vor - an incredibly worthy nomination and I support it wholeheartedly. You are an exceptional Europeian, serving your region admirably in a time of great strife”. Other Senators quickly chimed in, largely to voice support and praise for the Grand Admirals efforts. On December 6, 2023, the nomination was unanimously approved by the Senate.
With the Ovation of Kazaman and the Triumph of Vor, Europeia now has confirmed a total of 30 Honoured Citizens. This means that over a quarter of Europeia’s current 110 citizens are Honoured, leading Aexnidaral to joke at the festival, “at this rate you'll just be grandfathered in to Honored Citizenship after spending 6 months here.”
