First Minister Shines
On August 11, First Minister Pichtonia wrapped up a successful week by providing a hearty account of the state of Europeia. This week Pichtonia will be on a Leave of Absence between August 15 and August 17, leaving Deputy First Minister Astrellan to take over for this time.

New Naval Structure
Grand Admiral HEM announced a major re-structuring of the Europeian Republican Navy (ERN) on August 11, with mostly positive feedback. Questions regarding the new updates and changes have been abundant, however HEM has provided confidence in the ERN re-structure stating, "I truly believe this new structure will help create a clear ladder of advancement in the Navy, and help us maximize activity by allowing sailors to essentially opt-in to their desired commitment level."

After a slump in ERN activity, it's positive to see reform happening from our leaders. As former Grand Admiral Kuramia suggested, "The issue with our Navy is that the knowledge that made our Navy successful is being lost to us. We've lost our - as we call it - institutional memory. So we know the problem. Now we need solutions."

Let's hope that this change is the solution. Following HEM's speech was a strong reminder for citizens to consider enlistment into the ERN, applications are available through the Office of Naval Recruitment

The Million Post Palooza Closes
The Million Post Palooza is now at a close, and with it a variety of festivities that have brought the community together such as the Europeian Hunger Games and Europeia vs Holy Ekaj Monarchy mock trial – although the festival has now concluded you can still re-live the wonderful memes, favourite posts and excitement from the past week by visiting the Million Post Palooza forum.

Community Betterment Award
On August 7, the Office of the Supreme Chancellor (OSC) announced the creation of the Community Betterment Award. This award will be presented on a monthly basis to those who, as described by Supreme Chancellor Lethen, "promote positivity and constructive inter-player engagement that result in a better Europeian community."

A Smashing Result and a Competitive Streak
On August 11, Minister of Recruitment Brí Shakespeare reported outstanding results with a total of 4075 recruitment telegrams sent, smashing their target of 2,500 telegrams and with hopes of replicating these numbers in the following week.

On August 14, Brí Shakespeare, on behalf of the Ministry of Recruitment, announced a Race to 2020 competition starting on August 19. Brí has advised that "this system is quite simple the team with the most points at the end of the month will win and so their chosen candidate will be the democratic nominee for president."

For those interested in signing up to be a recruiter, applications can be made through the Ministry of Recruitment and registrations should be made through Brí's competition announcement post to join the Race to 2020.

Returning to Europeia
On August 14, Possibly this shared an enlightening story of their timely return to Europeia after leaving the region in the January of 2017. The story shares some hardships and difficulties from the past, but most importantly a strong message of optimism within the current Europeian community of today. It's certainly worth reading through Possibly this' experiences for a close insight into some Europeian history, and for a refreshing perspective for those coming back into the community.
