Europeia Honors Founder HEM with Ovation June 3-4

(Europeia – June 5, 2017) – The Europeian Ministry of Culture honored the region’s founder, former monarch and supreme chancellor HEM in an Ovation the weekend of June 3-4. HEM is an acronym for Holy Ekaj Monarchy. Europeia’s chancellery nominated HEM for an Ovation during the Euro10 celebrations earlier this year, which recognized a decade of Europeia within NationStates.
“[W]hat I’d like to say is that; I think, if the end ever comes to Europeia people will look at the list of honored citizens and they will say: There were those who were honored before him, and there were those that were honored after him, but there was never a citizen who deserved the honor as much as him,” Minister of Culture XIV said in his opening address.
During the Ovation, citizens recalled various tales and offered tributes to the founder. Senator Drexlore Greyjoy encouraged others to change their avatars to Star Wars avatars in the founder’s honor, given his fandom of the classic sci-fi space tale. Supreme Chancellor Lethen and hyanygo hosted a special EBC Radio episode to mark the occasion. XIV also hosted a variety of games for the participants to enjoy.
HEM founded the region as a monarchy, but long ago decided that Europeia should be a republic and abdicated the throne. The regional government appointed him a supreme chancellor, a position he held nearly a decade before leaving that position as well. HEM went on to serve many terms in various roles in the new republic, and often approached his political campaigns with grandiose ideas or radical proposals.
Since its founding, and under HEM’s leadership and later guidance, Europeia prospered to become the preeminent User-Created Region in NationStates. The region boasts NationStates’ most robust, functional, and professional government, complete with the political intrigue that accompanies it, but also vibrant cultural, military, and media spheres that attract and retain countless new citizens.
Europeia sets the standard for regional government and culture in NationStates. Committed to the ideals of democracy, freedom, and tolerance, the region serves as an international leader within the NationStates world. The heights which Europeia has achieved are in large part due to, and impossible without, HEM’s demonstrated dedication to the region, his vision, and his selfless leadership.
