CA Chair Election Poll Results and Analysis
Written by Festavo

General Questions:

Most poll respondents are regional veterans with 50% having joined Europeia over 2 years ago. 27.8% are relatively fresh faces to the region having joined between 6 months and a year ago and 16.7% are Europeian newcomers who joined less than 6 months ago. The remaining 5.6% clock in at between 1 and 2 years old, a shorter length than the 2 year plus Europeian veterans but still older than the 44.5% who joined after.

When people are constructive with their criticism.
Crushing the dreams of others.
The relaxed atmosphere.
Participating in discussions about interesting legislation
It's the ability to make changes through it.
I enjoy that every citizen has a chance to be involved in Europeia's legislature
Been here 2 weeks, haven't really gotten into the legislative aspects yet.
the new bills
Time.
Just not interesting.
Not too big of a legislative person.
Participation in the Citizens' Assembly is not very close to universal as only 55.% of respondents participate in the CA often. 44.5% of respondents participate rarely or only sometimes.

Those that participate often appreciate that the CA allows a citizen to participate in legislating and the ability to make meaningful changes as a Citizen. One individual enjoys "crushing the dreams of others", but don't we all? Another respondent notes the relaxed atmosphere that the CA provides. By contract, those that do not cite lack of interest and lack of time for their limited participation in the CA.

CA Chair Approval Rating:

He's done a lot of good work. He is reasonable, active, and seeks growth and improvement.
He's done a good job. I'm glad he's running for a second term and look forward to what he might accomplish with some experience under his belt.
The amount of work put into his LTC was staggering and more than makes up for laxes in other areas.
He could be better, but very enthusiastic.
With 88.8% of respondents approving of CA Chair Airbus' job performance, this incumbent is enjoying a stellar approval rating. No respondents disapproved of his tenure as CA Chair, but 11.1% of respondents had a neutral opinion on the past term. His main focus of the past 40 days has been the Legislative Training Center and it seems his success in that endeavor has not gone unappreciated by the people of Europeia.

Commenters cite his enthusiasm and activity as well as the "staggering work" he put into the Legislative Training Center this past term. Some commenters acknowledge his shortcomings in some areas, but they all agree that he has done at least a good job and seem excited to see what can do with a second term in office.

CA Chair Election Results:

With 88.9% of respondents having read both of the candidates' platforms in this election, the electorate seems to be educated on the stances and vision of the two candidates.

Alan Lee doesn’t quite understand the legal bounds of the CA. Furthermore, Airbus has a more appropriate agenda for the CA.
Alan Lee has no grasp on what the CA Chair position even does. His platform is dribble.
I will probably vote for Grizzli
Note: I am Alan Lee.

A staggering 83.3% of respondents would vote for the incumbent Airbus if the election were held today. 5.6% would not vote and only 11.1% of respondents would vote for Alan Lee, the challenger running on a platform based around innovation. While Airbus' platform is focused on continuing the work of the past term and improving on shortcomings, Alan Lee's is focused on new ideas in an attempt to innovate the Citizens' Assembly.

Airbus came out in support of more frequent communication in the form weekly or bi-weekly Mockingbird releases and audio content, more progress on the LTC, continued Ordinance Review, and even a new regional Constitution. He acknowledges that he could have utilized his deputies better this past term and pledges to give them more assignments. He also admits that his mind has changed on the issue of archiving and now wants to have the CA organized more like the Grand Hall in an effort to allow for faster historical research. His platform recieved universal acclaim on the forum with a handful of Europeians and the Europeian Cosmopolitan Party all giving him ringing endorsements.

Alan Lee's platform struck a different tone from the incumbent's. Highlighting his past proposals in the Citizens' Assembly and work in several Ministries as his experience, Alan Lee believes he is the man that can grow and improve the Citizens' Assembly. His proposed changes include integrating the CA into the Internship Program, changing the purpose of the LTC Mentors program, bi-weekly Mockingbird releases, including the CA in state visits, and starting a new "Legislation Ideas and Discussion Center". Critics of his platform point out the uncertain legal ground some of his proposals stand on and question the effectiveness of other proposals. One commenter goes so far as to call his platform "dribble" while another states that Alan Lee "doesn't quite understand the legal bounds of the CA". His platform is certainly controversial and the poll numbers are suggesting that it isn't good enough to overtake the incumbent Airbus.

The poll results are showing a clear landslide victory for Airbus, but nothing is ever certain until the ballots start rolling in. Airbus has very strong approval numbers and a popular platform, but only time will tell if Alan Lee will pull of an underdog victory with his unorthodox and controversial ideas. Things aren't looking good for the challenger by any means and it would be a truly impressive feat to pull off a win with the odds so stacked against him, but will Europeians change their mind and pull the lever for the underdog challenger? Or will they stay in line with the poll results and cast their ballots for the popular incumbent? The sand is draining to the bottom of the hourglass as we inch closer and closer to the 22nd when voters will cast their ballots in favor of one of the two candidates or nobody at all.

This right here is the reason why I subscribe to r/Dataisbeautiful.
It fulfills all my graphy needs.

Keep it coming, this is wonderful! :)

Airbus has done a good job, so this isn't that surprising. Alan is a decent contender for Chair but not against a strong incumbent.
