N-Day 4

An N-Day Radio Broadcast to kick off the event, hosted by First Minister Pichtonia! (Nuclear Warning Siren and Apocalyptic Music Show)

UPPERCUT(S)

Around 3 weeks ago, our region was offered a spot in the UPPERCUT faction, which took first place in last year's N-Day event. Having not participated much in these events in recent years, we discussed with citizens about participation and ultimately decided to jump in and give it our best shot. After a few weeks of planning and coordination, the faction discord server was up and ready to go and players began streaming in from the various regions. This year, the UPPERCUT faction consisted of The North Pacific, The Pacific, The East Pacific, The South Pacific, The Rejected Realms, Balder, and Europeia. After a torrent of offers from regions to join the faction, ally with us, or sign a Non-Aggression Pact (NAP), the roster was set the morning of the event. Later in the afternoon, 5 p.m. EST, N-Day 4 got off to a rocky start. Because UPPERCUT had been the top faction last year and full of solid regions this time around, everyone was scrambling to lock down faction names on opening. In the hubbub, the original faction name UPPERCUT was taken by a nation called Cubicle123, an obvious puppet, controlled by Chingis from the raiding organization Lily. In the ensuing chaos to re-brand and found the faction, numerous nations who had been preparing to join our faction accidentally joined the fake UPPERCUT faction. Shortly after, @Bowzin, leading the forces of Balder, was able to secure the faction title, UPPERCUTS, which we then began to flood into, trying to get as many people to switch over as possible. The order was given to unleash our first nukes at the fake UPPERCUT faction, though this led to additional confusion because our actual allies and puppets who joined the faction in error were being targeted by our own people and getting stuck, unable to change factions. Several dozen puppets were likely lost in that initial skirmish and chaos.

Finding our Footing

After about an hour or two of hammering the faction that stole the original name, the commanders in UPPERCUTS gave the order to stockpile nukes for the first major volley at an enemy faction to begin accruing points. At around 2 hours into the event, the first major strike order was issued, targeting the faction DAUNTLESS. This first volley was amazingly successful and cemented our point total in first place, with over double the points of the 2nd place faction, Horsemen of the Apocalypse. After this volley, orders were given to stockpile for 40-45 minutes, and then target the next faction, unleashing our nukes all at once to maximize strikes and overwhelm defenses. The next target was Multiverse Defense Pact, which also went down in a single volley, followed by the faction, The League.

Chaos and Confusion

Around this time, after several volleys had gone through, we noticed a lot of nukes coming from one of our NAP partner factions, Canopy. After discussing with them, it was discovered that rogue nations from Karma, mainly puppets of the player Altino, were using Canopy as cover to launch nukes at UPPERCUTS with impunity, knowing that we couldn't retaliate against an NAP faction. There were also some stray nukes coming from our faction aimed at Canopy as well, either in retaliation for rogue attacks or possible infiltrators in our own faction. With several thousand nukes coming at us from our own NAP ally, commanders in UPPERCUTS began looking for new NAP partners. We had added Canopy originally, but then also signed with Army of Freedom and Potato Alliance. Around 10 p.m. EST, around 5 hours after the start of the event, a commander from Horsemen of the Apocalypse messaged one of our faction leaders with an offer of Non-Aggression. At this point, Horsemen of the Apocalypse was well behind in points, but had a solid lead in nuke count, shield count, and production. They were a production powerhouse and were very consistent about converting production to nukes and shield. Ultimately, the decision was made that we would sign a Non-Aggression Pact with Horsemen in order to prevent a shooting war from taking us both out of the Top 10 Rankings.

The Nights Here Are Quiet

After the NAP was signed with Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the faction went back to sending volleys at random factions, though now in a race with Horsemen to accrue points. A few hours after the NAP was signed, Horsemen took first place and held their position rather steady throughout the night. When we launched a volley at a faction, they launched even more nukes at another, keeping their point advantage. However, during this time, their nuclear and shield stockpiles were creeping far ahead of our own, reaching around double the amount that we had. This Cold War-style Arms Race was being won handily by Horsemen and they intended to use them.

The Horsemen Ride...

Around 9:15 EST on Friday morning, about 16 hours into the event, the dam was breached; Horsemen of the Apocalypse were breaking the NAP with a sharp stab in the back. In the initial volley, around 20,000 nukes were aimed at our faction. Our shield-specialist nations were on point ready to take them down and every single nuke from that first wave was destroyed. In the minutes that followed, another 30,000 nukes were also sent, which began to deplete the shield count of our active players. About 45 minutes after the NAP was broken, the first nukes touched down in our faction nations. What followed was around 4-5 hours of continuous nuke launches at our faction, aimed at soaking up as many points from our broken nations as possible. By the end of the event, around 170,000 nukes had successfully hit our faction, and around 40,000 shields had been used in defense, a combined total of around 215,000 nukes after the NAP was broken.

Brilliant work Prim! It was fun to be a part of the event, I wish I could've provided more assistance - but I guess it's just experience for next time!

I didn't check in on this during the event - being a weekday really didn't help - but sounds like it was a lot of fun! I'm sure my nation was decimated on an individual level, though :p

Anyone who knew you would've nuked you.
