I've actually had this issue before too, not with all links, but just certain ones refuse to render as links at all, even in the URL bbtag. Example: https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=531501

Edit: it also seems like HEM had an issue with his post in the Ecstalcia thread where the forum replaced his internet archive invisionfree link with a bunch of asterisks, which I understand is a feature that applies to all posts given IF is a compromised site.

Well, I tried posting the raw URL for people to copy and paste because my hyperlink failed! I understand why invisionfree's URL is asterisked because it's become a porno dungeon.

Yeah, we basically had to make their URL a censored word on the board. This is how the board treats it. It strips it out of URLs, it turns the text into *'s. anywhere in URL's, and anywhere in text. It's the only way to make sure we get everything.

You can totally hyperlink things as long as they don't have that domain name in the URL anywhere. The link you showed has the terrible domain name in the URL, so the entire link goes away.
