The Finale of the Longest Ever Serving Europeian Head of Government​

President Lexus served Europeia as President for 218 days. Lexus was first recommended to run for President upon the advice of his Chief of Staff, HEM Tiberius. After months of suffering under the lacklister leadership of President Pez201, many citizens in Europeia were looking for a strong leader, and when Pez was suspended from office for not completing mandatory recruitment, (as was Vice President Delvetia), Lexus took the reigns of government.

Lexus continued to serve as Acting President until Pez201 resigned from the office, and Lexus was sworn in to complete his term. After nine days, Lexus was forced to defend his seat and barley scratched out a win against future President, Neohabighorst.

With a very small plurality of the vote, Lexus built a government that was riddled with infighting and disagreements. He quickly grew frustrated with his Attorney General, Aston, who eventually resigned, and his foreign Minister (Kab) also resigned before being fired by the administration. Foreign relations chilled with TNI, and Lexus and HEM worked to find a compromise to salvage their alliance.

Population began a serious descent, and many people began to plan against the young president to oust him from his seat. The conservative party was aided by The Graz who is a talented political scientist from regions abroad. While the election initially was extremely close, several mis-steps and mis statements from the ECP coupled with a stellar exit speech Here lead to Lexus winning in a landslide.

Lexus began his second term with the pledge to not run for President the next term, but did inform the region that he would be open to running again in a few months. His second term witness unprecedented population bursts, and it was in this time that Europeia took the title "Largest User Created Region" for the first time. In this term the administration was plagued with the discoveries of Falconias and Karputsk in the region, the former leading to a state of emergency and emergency Executive Order.

Neohabighorst replaced Lexus as President, and when he resigned Asianatic took the reigns of government. She ran for re-election and won against Falconias, and then Lexus seemed determined to take the government back as an independent candidate. Early polls showed Lexus as the strongest candidate as a former President, and he ended up winning in (what's not a landslide) but a comfortable margin:

President Lexus was often criticized for not being around enough in his third term compared to his last two, and population went up and down with the waves. During this term he expanded the Cabinet size to include a new Chief of Staff, and broadened Europeia's military interests.

Then faced off with the ever popular Cordova I. However, using his ability to write expectational rebuttals, Lexus began to derail the popular Federalist Party, until Cordova was faced with real life issues forcing him to fade out of the race. Klatonia then took up the mantel, and Lexus beat him by only a single vote.

In his final term, Lexus has oversaw a vast population growth and created an Executive staff which added a dynamic of Goldenblock-populace interaction that is still be defined. Lexus has served not only longer than any other President, but kept changing the way people look at the Presidency. Inactivity in Presidents is now heavily scrutinized because of Lexus, people expect their President to be involved in the regional affairs. People see the President as much more of a central figure. And for better, this region has changed, because of Lexus.

This was actually a nice stroll down memory lane.

Lex, I think I've said this before, but I am forever grateful to you for asking me to be your VP that one day- and for teaching me what you did. I learned so, so much from you, and in the process, I gained a friend.

You have been one of my best friends in NS, quirks and strengths alike, and your presence will be greatly missed. It's been an honor and a pleasure.
 
There will surely be a gap in the executive branch and Europeian life in general without Lex. He has given us more than what most thought wasn't possible and he did it with a smile on his face and the Europeian people in his heart. We may have had our disagreements in the past, but I consider Lex to be a region-mate and even somewhat of a mentor - not only to me, but to people whio have been graced with his presence all over NS. you will be missed, but not forgotten Mr. President.

Lex humbles me. Noone humbles me in NationStates. Not even Anumia. That speaks for itself.

I've got too much respect for this man...considering he's helped my region reach new heights.
 
Lexus, I have only been here for 3 months but I read every thread HEM had included in his farewell speech. Overall you have been an impressive leader for this region and it is a waste that you are not able to finish this term. We all hope to see you back soon. Godspeed in RL. euro.gif
 
I wish I was around earlier but from what I've read Eurpeia owes this man a great debt of gratitude. Let's just hope his RL pursuits turn out just as impressive as his work here.

It only needs a look at the population growth (Lexus set ambitious targets every term and always met them) to see how impressive his leadership has been and where its taken the region.

Not just his leadership skills but Lexus' principles and loyalty have been real factors in keeping the region together, steering it in the right direction and pulling us through what should have been very difficult times. He's protected the region from an awful lot!
