On the evening of January 28th, the League and Concord (TL&C) officially announced their ratification of the Modern Gameplay Compact (MGC), an interregional agreement and commitment to standing against resurgent raider forces that Europeia was a founding signatory to. This comes after a tumultuous few weeks for the alliance, which has seen the departure of two other founding members, the New Pacific Order (NPO) and the West Pacific (TWP).

The first signs of a shift in the MGC began after The first signs of a shift in the MGC began after a statement by Syberis in the NPO’s embassy on Europeia’s forums announced the formal withdrawal of relations with Europeia, resulting in the end of the Treaty of Sericum and a historic partnership built on top of reconciliatory efforts between both the NPO and Europeia in the aftermath of the war between the two regions in 2018. Syberis cited a communication issue surrounding Festavo’s presence in Europeia as the concerning factor, expressing satisfaction with their conversations with Europeia’s administrative team but indicating discontent with their dialogue with President JayDee, noting that “the slightest amount of communication that our concerns were seen seems to the Order to be a basic part of the respect that builds a treaty” in the withdrawal statement. JayDee went on to make a statement addressing the withdrawal of relations on the same day, confirming that his administration was given prior notice two hours ahead of the admin team’s announcement and that only about a day’s worth of time was provided to address the issue before the NPO’s Senate acted unilaterally to cut off relations. Later that day, JayDee would follow up with a notice that the NPO had also withdrawn from the MGC.

TL&C’s announcement would also mark the first public information that TWP had also left the alliance, bringing its active membership down to three before TL&C’s joining. Upon being asked for a comment on the announcement, TL&C Founder and Consul Quebecshire highlighted some key priority items for the alliance and reflected on hopes for future action, saying, “The goals of the alliance are something we’ll have to have some further discussions on as the dust settles. Obviously this is a substantial shakeup, and right now the priorities are Concord’s status and the amendment mentioned in our announcement. I think the alliance has obviously had a major change but the fundamental ideas of multilateral collaboration and support are still there, and I would hope this lineup makes it more feasible to make bold moves in support of things like the ongoing war effort, which was at times obstructed by groups like the NPO favoring a much lazier approach to combatting these groups.”

All four present member regions have played increasingly closer roles in the conflicts against raider forces, including in Declarations of War against the Brotherhood of Malice and their allies as well as the operation in Solidarity. The announcement also underlined two items on the alliance’s agenda in the wake of TL&C’s accession – the changing of the MGC’s preamble to explicitly recognize defender and independent regions in the alliance and the acknowledgement of TL&C’s Frontier region, Concord, as a protected signatory Frontier. Notably, TL&C’s membership in this new roster now shifts the overall makeup of the MGC’s alignment, with half of the member regions being defender. In commenting on TL&C’s role specifically as a member of the MGC and how they hope to contribute to the alliance in the future, Quebecshire stated, “...we plan to contribute to efforts combatting the groups we’re all at war with - which we’ve been extremely successful in doing in instances like Solidarity, and continuing to forge defender and Independent ties that can stand the test of time and make substantial moves in the WA and in military matters.”
