World Assembly Votes to Injunct The Communist Bloc
Historic Resoution Marks Beginning of New Era

Written by Sanjurika

Arnhelm, Europeia - As regions shift and jostle for an advantage immediately post-Frontier Update, the World Assembly is trying out its new tool— injunctions. Being introduced hand-in-hand with frontier regions in the F/S Update, injunctions are a tool at the Security Council’s disposal that serve to block the transition from Frontier to non-Frontier, and vice versa. They effectively lock the region into its current state until either the region ceases to exist, or the injunction is repealed. One such injunction recently passed in the halls of the World Assembly is “Injunct The Communist Bloc”, authored by Vice President Writingelegend, and coauthored by Minister of Foreign Affairs PhDre.

The Communist Bloc (TCB) is an extremely large region in NationStates, consistently boasting over 1,100 nations in its borders. However, it is also a region extremely close to the Brotherhood of Malice (BoM) and The Black Hawks (TBH), two regions hostile to Europeian sovereignty. Although TCB was an ally of Europeia under the Treaty of Spomenik, that agreement was eventually repealed by the Writinglegend administration roughly a year ago. The repeal resulted from several instances that culminated in then-WA Delegate Prim being banned from TCB, a significant treaty violation on the part of TCB.

This in turn with the false claims that the region EmbassyRegionia was fascist, led to a rapid deterioration of Europeia-TCB relations. Regions like Balder, Thaecia, and The League also terminated relations with TCB over EmbassyRegionia. Ever since then, TCB has continually bumped shoulders with BoM and TBH.

Fast forward to the present day, where TCB was one of the first major User Created Regions (UCRs) to attempt to transition to a Frontier. Vice President @Writinglegend (Gleg) quickly pushed back, submitting SC#442 shortly after TCB began its transition. According to Gleg, he and coauthor @PhDre were quick to begin drafting the resolution, starting the process the day the update launched. TCB swiftly retaliated, with arguments that their intention in transitioning was to immediately transition back in order to gain an active Governor. This argument however was met with wide skepticism from supporters of the resolution.

Ultimately, the World Assembly decided that the potential risk of TCB staying a Frontier was too great. Additionally, if they were to transition back in order to gain an active Governor, TCB, not a friend of Europeia, would be strengthened by new nation spawns, only leading to stabilization within the region and more potential for the destructive military efforts that the People’s Revolutionary Air Force (TCBs military arm) continually conducts. For its part, TCB released a rather vague dispatch on its views on the injunction.

The resolution passed with 68% voting aye and 32% voting nay, becoming the second injunction to pass in the WA, and a major step in Europeian efforts to keep itself secure.

Thanks for covering such an important event! And congratulations to Gleg and PhDre on their successful proposal!

Not just this, they also claimed that independents/defenders were seeking to destroy "Leftism" and that independents/defenders were purposely depending and relying on fascist votes to pass the proposal. Complete lack of common sense posting.

I think that statement was probably one of the more insidious ones. Europeia (and many other regions supporting the proposal) regularly support antifascist operations. Fascist votes are basically negligible when it comes to WA votes, especially for an injunction that passed with 5000 votes more for than against.

But I guess it just goes to show how this line below from the injunction has been proven right once again.
Alarmed by The Communist Bloc’s pattern of deceiving nations in an effort to enlist them into supporting the People’s Revolutionary Air Force (PRAF) in their brutal occupations, claiming justification under a thin veneer of progressive causes to disguise their ulterior and destructive motives,

It's great to see this pass decisively, and thank you for reporting on it Sanju!

Great article!

LL, people have asked this in technical, and it seems like injunction-related things are delayed somehow (Canada doesn't have the badge yet either), but rest assured TCB won't actually become a Frontier. Very bad work from the admins though

I think the way it is set up is the injunction does not prevent the countdown or the ability to initiate the transition, it just blocks the transition at the moment of change (so the countdown will continue but at the end nothing will happen.)

^ this, it’s similar to the Liberation mechanic — Delegates are not mechanically prevented from imposing a password on a Liberated region, that password just has no effect.

Thanks for the update - I will point to Kaz's comments elsewhere that:
Europeia worked fast to be the first to use injunctions offensively, preventing The Communist Bloc from transitioning. By passing the most consequential resolution in the Security Council's history, we have a set an important precedent for the Frontier era

Emphasis mine - that was one of the most hectic mornings I've experienced on NationStates!
