Presidential Elections in Whitmark, this time the polling anticipated that the Far Right would get the first ticket to the run off, while the second place was a dead heat for months, between the Green Party, Whitmark Insoumise, and the newly founded party Citizens.
The Parties and Candidates:
Party for Freedom: Far Right - Segolene De Wever
Whitmark Insoumise: Far Left - Jan Van Dijk
Citizens: Center - Albert Van Der Berg
Green Party: Center - Anniemie Michel
Peoples Party: Right Wing - Diana Monkhorst
Socialist Party: Left Wing - Willem Bettel
Christian Party: Right Wing - Emile Kant
Results:
Only 8595 votes made Albert Van Der Berg, a fresh face and a newcomer to politics, the second place and the one who will face De Wever in the run off in a couple of weeks.
First let us understand what has happened in 4 years. After the last Presidential Election in which Green Party candidate Johan Sebastian Van der Orange defeated De Wever in the run off, the country faced enormous turmoil and mass rage in the streets due to the illegal inmigration. De Wever supporters in the most rural part of the country don't like the illegal inmigration that is taking place and that is making her numbers to improve in recent years. But also, at the same time, this polarization is giving birth to the new movement of Albert Van der Berg, Citizens, founding a new centrist party claiming reform, respect and peace.
The Collapse of The Greens, The Socialists and The Right:
The Collapse of the Greens is due to the low approval of the president Johan Sebastian Van der Oranje, who is facing the rage of the far right and mass riots all over the country. Security is a problem and the president has not addressed accordinly this problem. The traditional parties, the Socialist Party and the Peoples Party have been out of power for more than a decade and it's taking toll on their ability to connect to voters once again.
