Brief History
Only 85 years ago(115 After Arnhelm) Antonius GraVandius the distant cousin of Robert Vandy, the Baron at the time, worked his way up first as a farmer up to Chief Agriculture Adviser by the age of 36. Just a few years later(118 AA) the Heirless Baron and Cheif Military Adviser were murdered in a skrimish with local bandits. Antonius took the opportunity to seize power over the Baronship with his friend and Knight, Varka Visala. After exacting brutal revenge on the bandits, the two we implemented as co-Barons, with Antonius controlling civil matters and Varka controlling the Knights. Antonius was not happy with this set up however and began to plot to take full control of the Baronship.
He plotted with many of the powerful merchants to assassinate Varka which succeeded in 122 AA. He appointed Varka's 15 year old son his chief military adviser, to placate military interests and took full reigns over the Baronship. He additionally Maried his son, Antonius II into the Chastain family to begin to grow his influence outside of the Baronship. Antonius died in 144 AA. His son helped to grow the families wealth while keeping the Visala family subdued and slowly increasing the GraVandius family's hold on governance. After a long prosperous rule he left the kingdom to his young son Antonius III in 199 AA after his previous heirs died tragically of disease. The young baron is brash and anxious to prove his mettle.
