The West Pacific Departs from Pax Polaris Occidens
The West Disentangles Itself From a Liability

In a shocking turn of events, The West Pacific (TWP) announced its departure from the Pax Polaris Occidens (PPO) mutual defense treaty this evening. This comes in response to a statement released by The Pacific (NPO), the Augustin Alliance (AA), and Lone Wolves United (LWU) justifying their attempted removal of Walkabout, Delegate of The Outback (TO), a region with close ties to The West Pacific. The NPO and AA are also members of the PPO. In a statement, TWP's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Successor Varanius said that "to call it a strategic act of sabotage would be impossible to reconcile with the fools they have made of themselves".
Pax Polaris Occidens was originally formed in 2022 by The North Pacific, The West Pacific, and The Pacific in response to threats made against the regions and their allies. The alliance was previously described by EBC correspondent Istillian as the culmination of former Empress Xoriet's career in his piece "The Rise of an Empress: Exploring the History of Xoriet," and marked a significant landmark in Feeder relations. The pact saw several early tests, including the exposé of Operation Ragnarok, a plot to coup Balder, by Quebecshire, during which each individual member of PPO released a statement, but the group did not, and the delegate bump of Equilism, another TWP ally, to which the PPO's official response was that "boring, official talk will come later, and I’m sure we will solidify our thought processes then." It is unclear if any further response to this incident was made.
While the members of PPO undoubtedly continued to participate in private talks, relatively little was heard from the group publicly between the aforementioned November 2022 Statement on Equilism and the announcement in February of 2025 that the Augustin Alliance would be joining the pact. This marked another major shift for the group, which previously only consisted of Game Created Regions.
Events came to a head earlier this year when the NPO, LWU, AA, and other regions colluded to threaten TWP and TO with withdrawals of pilers and other support if they did not replace Walkabout as Delegate of The Outback. The pair stood by the region's legitimate government, causing Lone Wolves United to withdraw their embassy with The Outback and disable the region's recruitment bot. These actions led The West Pacific and The Outback to reconsider their choice in diplomatic partners, and a new set of regions, including Europeia, The Plains of Perdition, The Region That Has No Big Banks, Balder, and The Land of Kings and Emperors, were invited to assist in the burgeoning GCR's growth. Following an infusion of personnel and technical support, The Outback has seen a sharp increase in domestic endorsement count and activity.
Little information about the alleged extortion was publicly available prior to the statement released by the NPO, LWU, and AA today. In that statement, the group confirmed that they posed an ultimatum including Walkabout's replacement to The West Pacific and The Outback. In response to this revelation, a coalition including The West Pacific, The Outback, The Plains of Perdition, The North Pacific, Europeia, and Balder issued a counterstatement reaffirming The Outback's right to sovereignty and criticizing the aforementioned trio of regions for their part in threatening The Outback and failing to follow through on later commitments to make amends for their actions.
In addition to withdrawing from Pax Polaris Occidens, The West Pacific also repealed their bilateral treaty with Lone Wolves United.
