Status of Forces Agreement Between Merridel and Europeia (2017)
A Military Agreement Between Merridel and Europeia.

WHEREAS Merridel would like to have their military trained;
WHEREAS Merridel and Europeia wish to further military cooperation;
NOW, THEREFORE, Europeia and Merridel agree to as follows:

1. Military Leadership

(a) The President of Europeia, or a designated person chosen by the President of Europeia, will lead both the militaries of Merridel and Europeia.
(b) The Prime Minister of Merridel, or a designated person chosen by the Prime Minister of Merridel, shall exercise all relevant powers attributed to Merridel in this agreement.

2. Military Training

(a) Europeia may send, at the request of Merridel, a citizen chosen by the President of Europeia to assist in the development of military leadership.
(b) At any time, Merridel may choose to withdraw and deny further training.
(c) At any time, Europeia may choose to withdraw and deny further training.

3. Intelligence Undertakings

(a) Neither Merridel nor Europeia will set spies on the other. For this purpose, a "spy" is a person acting under false pretenses in one region, without that region's knowledge, and at the direction of the other region's legitimate government.
(b) Merridel and Europeia will each make it a violation of their internal laws to spy on the other, if a similar or related law to the same effect does not already exist. To the extent permitted by each region's laws, this Section 3(b) shall be deemed self-executing.

4. Military Hostility

(a) Neither Merridel nor Europeia will engage in military hostilities against the other. Participation by Merridel and Europeia on opposite sides of a military engagement that does not constitute an attack on either region shall not be considered "military hostilities against the other" for this purpose.

5. General Provisions

(a) Merridel may, at any time, opt out of a mission and choose not to participate for foreign or security reasons.
(b) Europeia may, at any time, choose to not include Merridel in a mission for foreign or security reasons.
(c) This agreement shall take effect when it has been ratified by the duly authorized legislative bodies of both signatory regions.
