Senate Satisfaction Poll December 2019

Senate Satisfaction Poll
Results and Analysis December 2019

Written by Pichtonia, Prim, Xecrio, and Maowi

With this Senate term drawing to a close and a general election to be held in a matter of days, the Europeian Broadcasting Corporation released a poll to determine the electorate's thoughts on the performance of Europeia's 71st Senate. Below are the poll's results and analyses.

Overall Senate Satisfaction

This term's nine-seat Senate has been the largest since mid-2018, and the activity generated by so many members appears to have paid off in the public eye. No respondents expressed negative opinions on the Senate, with only one holding a neutral view, and the comments reflect this positivity, as well as a general perception of liveliness in the body. This Senate has passed fifteen bills and made a start on the huge task of reviewing the Judicature Act, so there is certainly a quantifiable basis to this approval.

Great to see such a large, active Senate

OD 100% the best - Whitmark

I find it all to be a bit much sometimes but without diving too deep everything seems pretty good.

Speaker Drecq Satisfaction

This was Drecq's ninth full term as Senate speaker, bringing his total number of days serving in the position to the highest of all former speakers. With this huge experience behind him, it is no surprise to see that he has received the same total satisfaction rating as the Senate as a whole, although his ratio of very satisfied respondents to merely satisfied ones is even higher.

Nothing spectacular to say about Drecq, which is a good and not so good thing. Overall satisfied

His comments about recruiting are over-the-top for a Speaker of the Senate.

Senator Drecq Satisfaction

Drecq's performance as a senator arguably tops that as a speaker, with an extremely impressive - although not entirely unexpected - 100 percent approval rating. It seems his legislative skills polled just as well as his leadership skills, with no respondents having anything to comment about either. This result will likely give Drecq strong reassurance as the region takes to the polls on Friday to elect its new Senate.

Senator Astrellan Satisfaction

The results from Senator Astrellan's graph firstly prove that there is work to be done to gain the support of the majority of Europeian citizens. Senator Astrellan gained a disappointing 47.6 percent approval rating, and 38.1 percent for unsure. 14.3 percent of voters stated that they were dissatisfied with Senator Astrellan's term. Despite his much recognised work in the Senate, his recent absence has been noticed by voters.

Senator Bowzin Satisfaction

Despite only serving in the Senate for just 2 weeks, Senator Bowzin received a commendable 76.2 percent approval rating from voters. Bowzin performed admirably in the Senate by-election and his current work is clearly pleasing citizens. Bowzin received no votes in the unsatisfied section, although 23.8 percent of people stated they were unsure at how Bowzin's term went, showing that there is still much work for to be done for the new senator.

Too soon to say

Hes not really had time to satisfy or not.

Too early to tell.

Senator Darcness Satisfaction

With a satisfaction rating of 76.2 percent, Senator Darcness receives good feedback from the citizens of Europeia. While his conservative stances on issues ranging from executive oversight to mandatory recruitment or our electoral laws might be controversial in the wider region, his calm and constructive attitude in these debates clearly hasn't hurt his satisfaction ratings. But while only one respondent is unsatisfied with the former attorney general, there doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm either: especially next to other high-polling senators, his "very satisfied" rating stands out as comparatively low. If Darcness decides to stand again, he may want to look at how he could change his presence in the Senate to tweak these numbers further.

Senator JayDee Satisfaction

Despite four legislative initiatives and relatively high activity in the Senate, polltakers just don't seem to know what to think about the term of Senator JayDee. With a satisfaction rating of 61.9 percent, of which 9.5 percent are very satisfied, the senator doesn't have a terrible basis to run for re-election. But if he wants to secure a certain victory, his campaign will have to be rock-solid and enthuse some of the third of polltakers who are neutral on his term.

Senator Lloenflys Satisfaction

Senator Lloenflys can certainly take comfort from these outstanding polling results as he heads into the general election on December 20. With a huge 95.2 percent approval rating, corresponding to all respondents but one, who was neutral about his performance, Lloenflys' return to the Senate has evidently gone down well with the citizenry. Despite often being in the minority with his strongly held convictions on some issues, his constructive approach to Senate discussions, his consistent presence, and his candour when presenting his views have won him very strong support.

I had hoped to see more out of Lloenflys.

Senator Malashaan Satisfaction

A phenomenal 61.9 percent of respondents strongly approved of Senator Malashaan, boosting his total satisfaction rating to 90.5 percent with only one vote indicating dissatisfaction. Should he choose to run again, he would likely have very few, if any, obstacles. His return to the political life of Europeia last September appears from these poll results to have been incredibly well-received, given the very strong consensus on the quality of his performance in the Senate. Even with the range of opinions held by Europeian voters, of which some must inevitably be contradictory to the senator's, he received a very unified response, proof of his collected, persuasive style of debate in the Senate chambers.

Senator Rand Satisfaction

Senator Rand received solid support during this term, with just over 75 percent satisfied with his work. One comment notes that while he may take some unorthodox positions at times, he does put some effort and hard work behind his ideas, frequently creating the draft amendments and bills for further discussion. One major point to note, Senator Rand recently decided to restart an old tradition of having a Senate aide and has taken on Maowi to help scan through Europeian law to find possible avenues for legislation. This sort of motivated attitude for improvement is usually received well by citizens. Rand would probably feel comfortable with these numbers heading into re-election.

Rand did very well this term I think

He doesn't have popular opinions, but he puts in the work.

Senator Olde Delaware Satisfaction

With a Senate of nine seats, there may be an inclination for poll respondents to try to differentiate between the senators a bit more, pushing some outstanding senators higher in support and perhaps lowering support for more inactive or less productive members. Senator Olde Delaware comes in near the lower end of the Senate spectrum. With just under 50 percent satisfied and less than 15 percent dissatisfied, the numbers taken independently aren't horrible. They show that he still has a significant base of support, though the large group of neutral votes would need to be swayed if he were to run for re-election. One commenter, in hefty paragraph form, claims that the senator's inactivity and lower involvement in Senate debate was a sticking point, which could be the reason for a significant amount of neutral voters, but notes that there are mitigating circumstances, regarding his Real-Life situation. Overall, it seems that the term may not be a net positive or negative for Olde Delaware and could depend on his actions and possible platform, if he were to run for re-election.

Fell inactive and has been doing the bare minimum to avoid being recalled. Based on his level of activity & involvement in the Senate and the LoA he posted in late November he should have resigned instead of choosing to try to remain in the Senate. OD's attempts to use his senate position to "settle scores" or start spats has also continued in this term, notably separate incidents with both Dax and Cuddles. His choice to try to remain while not doing the job, same as the last time he was in the Senate, is not a good move politically.
While not directly related to his senate performance; the choice to remain given the nature of the LoA he posted in late November is not indicative of a healthy relationship with Europeia in general and I would strongly recommend for him to look into other ways to process and deal with his emotions. Be that talking to a therapist or councilor, stepping away from Euro for a bit to work through them, moving to less taxing work in Euro, finding other communities and hobbies to act as a counter to the stresses of Euro, etc. He has my deepest sympathies for going through the first thanksgiving since the loss of his mother as well as her loss.

... who?
