Media Coverage:

4,000 Words Pre-Election Poll Results and Analysis (12/5)

This poll (n=31), hosted by 4000 Words, was the first poll to get numbers after two candidates had definitively stood. Note that the poll started shortly before Pichtonia's platform was released on December 3.

Interesting findings:

Vote Share:
Pichtonia/Kuramia (44.8%)
Darkslayer/Calvin Coolidge (41.4%)

Likeliness to back candidate:
Very likely (22.6%)
Likely (54.8%)
Unsure (19.4%)

This early in the race, 4000 Words notes that the election seems pretty equal, probably due to the fact that only one platform had been released at the start of the poll. The two candidates are nearly equal in popularity, with a majority of responses only saying they were 'likely' to back their candidate.

Late Night Show 5 (12/4)

On JayDee's Mixlr show, he discusses the election with Rotasu. The key takeaway here is that while Pichto is the stronger candidate, Dark's momentum and sociability may give him a leg up in the election. Pichtonia will have to find some way to overcome that, possibly during a debate.

A Stream of Consciousness Review of Pichto's Platform (12/4)

The second edition out of ENN's platform reviews, this goes through a review of Pichtonia's platform. The overall review here seems to be that Pichtonia has offered a more compelling vision and better concrete policy ideas, but not necessarily in all areas. On top of that, Pichtonia's platform may be a tad underwhelming considering his past governmental experience.

A Stream of Consciousness Review of Dark's Platform (12/3)

Written by HEM, managing editor of the E-News-Network, this opinion piece expresses his personal thoughts regarding Darkslayer's platform (note that Darkslayer is no longer a candidate). The general consensus seems to be that Darkslayer's platform proposes a couple of changes, namely the video initiatives in each ministry, but does not bring anything gamechanging to the region.

Pre Standing Presidential Election Poll - Results and Analysis by Baobab (11/28)

This was the very first media piece covering the election, released by the EBC early in the cycle, on November 28 (one day before standing opened). The poll (n=34) released some interesting findings about electorate expectations:

Most likely candidates:
Darkslayer (61.8%)
Istillian (50%)
Pichtonia (47.1%)

Likely Vice Presidents:
Calvin Coolidge and SkyGreen24 (58.8%)
Lloenflys (52.9%)
Istillian (50%)
Darkslayer (47.1%)

Note that Darkslayer does very well, because of his early indication of seeking the Presidency. Istillian, SkyGreen24, Lloenflys, and Calvin do well here too, due to their recent government activity. Pichtonia also scores well, presumably due to his position as Vice President.

The poll also asked about ministry nominees. Note that there are some current incumbents who said they would not be seeking another term.

Interior:
Monkey (67.6%)
Calvin Coolidge (44.1%)
Le Libertia and GraVandius (38.2%)

All of the nominees have served as interior minister before (currently Monkey leads interior for the first time).

Communications:
Bronyleader (47.1%)
Seva (44.1%)
Lime (41.2%)

Seva is the incumbent Minister of Communications, and Lime is a four term minister. Bronyleader has never served in an executive position.

Culture:
Baobab (58.8%)
Calvin Coolidge (52.9%)

Baobab is a newcomer to the region that has been involved in the ministry of culture. Calvin Coolidge is the current minister.

Radio:
Nate (70.6%)
Darkslayer (55.9%)
Sopo and Calvin Coolidge (47.1%)

Darkslayer, Sopo, and Calvin Coolidge have all previously served multiple successful terms in radio. Nate has never served as minister of radio, but has been an active contributor over the past term.

World Assembly Affairs:
SkyGreen24 (85.3%)
Maowi (44.1%)
Seva (41.2%)

SkyGreen24 is the current minister, and similar to Maowi, have served multiple terms as minister. Seva has been a deputy in this department for multiple terms.

Foreign Affairs:
Kuramia (64.7%)
Pichtonia (50%)
Istillian and Sopo (35.3%)

Kuramia is the current minister. Pichtonia, Kuramia, and Sopo are all experienced foreign affairs leaders. Istillian is the current Grand Admiral of Europeia, and has been involved in foreign affairs.

Grand Admiral:
Istillian (73.5%)
Vor (50%)
Kazaman (47.1%)

Istillian is the current Grand Admiral. Vor and Kazaman are both leaders in the Navy, each leading multiple operations this term.

Attorney General:
Darkslayer (52.9%)
Lloenflys and Prim (50%)
Malashaan (44.1%)

Darkslayer is the current Attorney General. All of the above individuals are distinguished legislative experts, many of them former justices or senate speakers.

Endorsements:

Calvin Coolidge/Darkslayer:

None

Pichtonia/Kuramia:
Former Senator Forilian

Calvin Coolidge/Sopo:
None

I love these articles. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this race, which is now filled with “experienced” candidates, will turn out.
