No, you cannot change the coastlines. I can give you a monocolor map though.

I imagine that everything outside of the cities is just desert for me. Maybe a tiny forest, and a few mountains. Everything else is factories and mines.

Mine would be flat, some mountains in the center of the island, Mt. Foxia being the tallest (1266m), but not too many. Much of it is lovely forests of many varieties; Oak, Spruce, Birch, you name it. There are sandy and rocky shores, rockier ones tend to be more to the northern side of the island. There is, however, a great percentage of the land that is plains, land ripe for farming. If you're also including Capital Cities, St. Andrews is located kinda on that small bump in between the large peninsula and the east face, where the star is on the screenshot
