Justice Darcness and Attorney General Drecq Confirmed

Justice Darcness and Attorney General Drecq Confirmed
Senate Breaks Record

(Europeia - February 8th, 2018) - On February 5th, long serving Justice Skizzy Grey resigned from the High Court of Europeia citing a decrease in his availability. This of course subsequently left a open seat to be filled.

President Rach promptly nominated her Attorney General, Darcness, to take Skizzy's place on the court. She stated "Darc is a very skilled member of our community particularly when it comes to his legal skills and would represent new talent and a fresh perspective for the bench." The nomination drew a few minutes of confusion from Speaker GraVandius and Senator Moronist Decisions since it is illegal for someone to be a Justice and Attorney General at the same time. Thus, Darcness' appointment to the court would leave open the later position.

Less than four minutes after her first post, President Rach started another thread to nominate recently returned Drecq to serve as Attorney General. This also created a brief confusion if Rach had explicitly fired Darcness from AG in order to appoint Drecq. It was quickly determined that she had and the confirmation hearings proceeded without hindrance. With both nominees having more than enough legal experience for their position there were few questions asked of them before moving the nominations to a vote.

Notably both the votes were clocked in a record time to achieve majority. The confirmation of Drecq set a new record of under 2 minutes with votes from GraVandius, Vac and Moronist Decisions. This record was quickly smashed however, with Darcness being confirmed in under a minute by the same speedy senators, all of whom voted at 12:28 AM this morning. For anyone wondering, the old Senate Olympic speed record stood at the comparatively slow time of 5 minutes.

Upon his confirmation, the newly minted Associate Justice Darcness expressed the following:
"Since my very first day in Europeia, I've wanted to be a Justice. It's an honor and privilege to serve on the bench."

The new Attorney General is also likely excited about his position as Drecq has already laid out an impressive plan for the Ministry of Justice. His priorities for the rest of the term range from doing a better job preparing Law Clerks to be prosecutors to helping the President revise the Discord rules. However, people interested in the announced mock trial will have to wait a bit longer now that the new Attorney General announced that he will be pausing the initiative in favor of focusing on his own bold initiatives.
