Controversy, An Award, and a Senate Election

ERN Succeeds!
The Europeian Republican Navy made a successful double raid last Saturday. They raided the Trans Atlantic Trade Company and Yorkshire with two victories!
Senate elections!
After standings for the General Senate Election were opened last week, thirteen candidates stood, with eleven continuing to run. Lloenflys, Malashaan, Cuddlebuns, Rand, Drecq, Darcness, JayDee, Astrellan, Snowball, Calvin Coolidge, and Bowzin are all running. Links to their platforms are embedded in their names. Preliminary polling by the Europeian Broadcasting Corporation was released here. The election can be found here. The EBC wishes the best of luck to all candidates.
Senate Stuff!
Darcness was confirmed as the new councilor of foreign affairs, and HEM was confirmed as the new deputy chief of state . The Citizen Legislation Amendment Act of 2019, proposed by Senator Rand, passed the Senate and was signed by the chief of state and first minister. It creates a petition system for the citizenry. The Deputy Removal Amendment Act of 2019 was also passed by the Senate and Executive this week. Proposed by Speaker GraVandius, it creates a system for the Senate to remove members of the Executive. Immediately after the amendment passed, inactive deputy chief of state UnitedPeoplesOfCentrism (UPC) was removed by the Senate. The Legislation Speaking Right Amendment Act of 2019, also proposed by Speaker GraVandius, was submitted to the floor of the Senate.
WA Nominee Controversy
After UPC was removed as councilor of the World Assembly (WA), Maowi, already minister of communications, was nominated by Chief of State Prim as a replacement. The Senate expressed concern on the dual roles Maowi would hold if elected, and the nomination was soon pulled. WA Delegate Aexnidaral was then nominated, but after a series of events you can read about here, Aexnidaral pulled himself from consideration. No one is currently nominated for the position.
Community Betterment Award
The office of the Supreme Chancellor presented the first Community Betterment Award to Lloenflys for their positive presence in the community. The EBC, on behalf of Europeia, would like to give a hearty congratulations and thank you to Lloenflys.

The controversial Ping Pyramid thread was shut down by the Admins for abusing the reply feature, to the disappointment of
EBC Articles and Radio!
The EBC released many articles this week, such as a NationStates Gameplay Update by Rachael, a full account of the WA Councillor controversy by Hezekon and Astrellan, a op-ed on private media by Hezekon, an article on Executive Burnout by JayDee, and polling on the current and future senate put together by Dax and Prim. Our radio counterpart released a townhall with OldeDelaware on the City Council, and numerous senatorial candidate profiles on Drecq, Malashaan, JayDee and Snowball, Cuddlebuns and Lloenflys, and Calvin Coolidge in preparation for the upcoming elections.
