Questions Raised on the Status of the Navy
This week, Europeia's founder HEM began a discussion regarding the state of the Europeian Republican Navy, which has fallen into disrepair as of late. The ERN is desperately understaffed, as the last time the Region had a Grand Admiral was April 28, and those still in the Navy lack adequate strategic training to be qualified to be a Grand Admiral. Many significant members of the community have chimed in on this debate, notably Writinglegend, who served as Grand Admiral in the past, and who suggested a plan to revitalize the ERN. Whatever ends up happening, it is clear that some change needs to be made.

Evaluation Conducted on the Role of Admins
Last week HEM posted a thread explaining the divide between moderators and administrators. This was in response to comments from the community saying that the admins were not doing their jobs properly. The ensuing debate has covered the distinction between in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) issues. The concerns raised are regarding a disconnect between some admins and the community, and specific instances where members of the community believe the admin team failed. This is an incredibly complex issue, as admins are supposed to handle OOC issues, and the moderation team exists to handle IC issues. However, as Speaker Aexnidaral pointed out, some actions are not seen as IC or OOC and go unresolved. Debate on this topic is ongoing.

Debate Ongoing Regarding the Executive Disclosure Act
The debate on the extent of the Executive Disclosure Act, (2019) also mentioned in last week's weekly update, rages on in the Senate. Speaker Aexnidaral and Senator Rand in particular have debated this hotly. Senator Rand wants the Executive Disclosure Act (herein referred to as "the EDA") to cover Councilors in addition to the positions currently listed on the basis that they play a significant role in Europeia's foreign affairs. Speaker Aexnidaral disagrees, arguing that the Senate can ask Councilors to disclose their foreign connections in their confirmation hearing. Outside of the Senate this has remained an active point of debate, with the community seeming split between the two sides in the EBC Opinion Piece written by DictatorAnna10. It is unclear whether the Senate will vote on the EDA before the end of the term.

Criminal Code Review Continues
The Criminal Code Review, a project that has been ongoing across two Senate terms, is finally drawing near completion. The purpose of this project, herein referred to as "the CCR," is to modernize Europeia's Criminal Code to reflect the changing face of Europeia, notably the increased importance of Discord and in response to repeated high level crimes. Senator Rand posted an updated draft for the bill just today. The Senate looks to be on track to meet their goal of passing the new Criminal Code before the end of this term.

American Election RP Begins
This Sunday, HEM began the American Election RP, in which players write speeches, raise funds, and compete against one another in elections from the primaries all the way up to the presidential election. This is one of the most popular RPs in Europeia according to the number of participants, and in the New Hampshire and Iowa polls held this week a dozen politicians were represented, six being Republicans and the other six Democrats. It remains to be seen who will succeed in this highly competitive race.
