New First Minister
Istillian became the eighth first minister of Europeia on Saturday April 11. The election was a close contest, with the final vote being cast in the closing seconds which avoided a run-off. Istillian received 51.2 percent of the vote, and 22 votes out of 43 in total. He launched the new term with a speech on both the forums and radio. In it, he congratulated his opponents on their campaigns and stated reasons for his cabinet nominations. The speech was met with applause and excitement from Europeians.

Cabinet Nominations
Istillian nominated McEntire as minister of interior, which was met with some controversy in the Grand Hall, as many assumed he was an unlikely candidate. Second Minister Hezekon returned to manage the Ministry of Communications, after nearly a year. Calvin Coolidge was awarded with the duty of minister of radio, after his activity in the ministry last term. Bowzin was also nominated by the chief of state to serve in the role of Attorney General as Prim was able to vacate his position to become a justice. The only returning cabinet member to the same role was Olde Delaware who takes control of the Ministry of Culture for a second term.

Potential Ovation
As Dax's term as first minister came to an end, she presented Darcness for an Ovation in the Senate for his work as an administrator on the forums keeping them running and ensuring that Europeia can continue functioning. There is currently a big debate regarding the ovation due to the unconventional nature of its basis of awarding an ovation for out of context work. Darcness was awarded the ovation by a vote of six to one in the Senate with two Senators abstaining.

Panda's Pen Article
The Panda's Pen held a poll regarding ovations, and released an article showing the results. The results found that just under 48.1 percent of respondents would vote "aye" on the ovation of Darcness. A staggering 92.6 percent of respondents stated that ovations should be awarded for work done in government, although respondents were permitted to choose more than one response on this question. Lime also released a run through of the discussion in the Senate. He also made predictions on which way the Senators were likely to vote.

EBC Article
Xecrio released the Europeian Broadcasting Corporation's first article of the new term this week. The article focused on the purpose and importance of polling; given the number of polls Europeians have gone to recently, the article aimed at encouraging more citizens to vote in upcoming polls.

Updates with the Judiciary
Former Justice Rand lost his citizenship this past week and in his place Prim has taken the role of 1st chair justice. This means that he has vacated his role as attorney general. Bowzin will take over this role. Malashaan has been nominated as 2nd chair justice by Chief of State Pichtonia, as Lloenflys' term in the chair ends.

It's been a fun and eventful week, good job Nate!!
