Europeian Weekly Update
May 10 2020

Written by ForilianSupervisor
New Chief of State
In a narrow race, Malashaan was elected as chief of state on May 4, along with Vice Chief of State Dax. The election was quite close, with Senator Darcness casting the final vote in favour of Malashaan, breaking the 4-4 tie and giving Malashaan the lead. This was the second contested chief of state election in a year, and the Malashaan/Dax ticket was running against the Sopo/Maowi ticket. Following this, the newly elected Malashaan released an opening speech where he outlined what he will do as chief of state.

Nominations for Council of State
After inheriting the position of chief of state, Malashaan immediately nominated four candidates for the Council of State: Peeps, for the newly-created councillor of coordination; Kuramia, for the position of councillor for foreign affairs; Dax, for grand admiral; and Maowi, for councillor of world assembly affairs. Currently, all but the position of grand admiral has been confirmed by the Senate.

Discord Updates
On May 5, the discord moderation team announced that they will add a new rule in Discord to be enforced: rule 7, which states that English should be the language used to communicate in the Europeian server. Notably, this doesn’t ban all usages of foreign languages. Furthermore, Pichtonia and Istillian are added to the moderation team, and Vlaska will serve as interim chief moderator until Drecq returns. You can find the update here.

Europeian Power Draft
On May 5, Calvin Coolidge, Sopo, and HEM got together on radio to discuss their draft picks for the next few months. The power draft is a pick by some of our most influential players to determine who will be most influential in Europeia for the next period of time, and you can find the list of picks here. There were 18 players picked, including Senate Speaker Lloenflys, Mayor of Arnhelm Carathetopia, and Deputy Minister of Radio Monkey.

Arnhelm Symbolism Contest
Arnhelm is currently having a symbolism contest to determine its motto, official colours, flag, and coat of arms. On May 7, the first phase of the contest ended with a vote, and golden yellow/white/navy blue were decided to be the official colours of Arnhelm, and the standings for the motto of Arnhelm has been re-opened as the election results demanded so. You can find a link to said contest here.

I’m very sorry this was submitted so late! I had submitted the draft on Sunday, but waited for any corrections.

Nice write-up, Forilian! Especially for your first weekly update :) hope to see more of you in comms!
