Welcome everyone! As you may know, this event is being held to present the new ESEC initiative. Before we begin, I would like to thank all of the council members who voted to make this space program possible. Without you, we wouldn't be here today. I promise not to let your vote go to waste. So, with that out of the way, I would like to present to you our new initiative, Ares. For hundreds of years, humanity has looked to the stars, gazing at worlds where we could one day live. Our longing for novelty and curious nature are what set us apart from other species. We are explorers and inventors. We seek new frontiers to study and share. It is often easy to forget this fundamental fact in the midst of chaos and tragedy. We often loathe ourselves and our own humanity. We see our uniqueness as a curse. But the truth is, this drive to discover is an amazing gift. To be able to recognize and use our own emotions and thoughts are what define us. We can see our world for more than just food and predators. We go beyond basic survival and constantly yearn for more. ESEC represents this drive to explore. After all, space is the final frontier. And though the stars in the night sky are still out of reach, there are other ways to quench our eternal thirst for novelty. Right in our own solar system, there are planets completely different from our own waiting to be explored. Unfortunately, some are either out of reach, or too hostile to survive. However, we do have one world that has yet to be explored. Mars is our closest comparison to our own pale blue dot. At one point during the grand history of sol's existence, it may have harbored life similar to that of earth's. The now barren wasteland may have secrets hidden beneath its rusty surface. Who knows what they could be. Maybe they're clues to a time long forgotten. They could be the last remnants of the inhabitants of once lush forests and vibrant seas. Whatever it is, it is our duty to find it. We must use our amazing gift to learn and improve ourselves. This is why ESEC was created; to explore and venture out into the vast unknown to find secrets yet unseen to improve life for the rest of us. As this address draws to a close, I urge you all to look inside yourselves and find that spark that we all have and to use it and never let it go. Mission details to follow. Feel free to ask any questions in the replies or through direct message. Ad Astra, Per Aspera

The launch vehicle is ready!

Resignation

Hi,
Throughout my time in this region, I would like to think that I have made many friends. This forum has brought me unimaginable joy to know that I have people that I can trust. This is why it was so hard to come to this decision. In the face of growing stresses in school and at home, I have been overwhelmed and can no longer sufficiently perform my duty as director of ESEC. Rest assured, I will continue working behind the scenes to advance the Ares program. I have made significant progress in the construction of the Orion launch vehicle. I will continue as well, to make account maintenance posts so that I can rejoin the community when I regain the time and energy to assume my post. As for the budget issues, I have secured investments from outside sources and am capable of operation without capital from the Arnhelm government. If Peeps sees fit to replace me, I would like to recommend Rotasu for this position.

Thank you for all you have given me,
Sam

Oh. I've been gone for quite a while...

It's all good -- I loved your enthusiasm, I'm glad you enjoyed being here. We'll be here whenever you have time in the future. :)

Quick update: The flight ready prototype of the Orion vehicle is about 85% ready. All that's left is to perfect the RCS system and engine tests.

PS- As I am now Mayor, I appointed Rotasu to head the Space Agency.
Awesome! I'm now coming to realize that I'm not very fit for an administration position. I feel like I would be better in a position where I can put my effort into developing new technologies. I'm sure Rotasu will do amazing! I'll reach out to him to see if and how he would like me to be involved. I will continue to develop the vehicle regardless. Best of luck to Rotasu!
