Aexnidaral Ovation
Last week, from March 28th through to the 31st, Europeia celebrated an Ovation for Senator Aexnidaral Seymour. The Ovation was conferred upon Aex, who is also the current World Assembly delegate for the region (as well as a host of other titles and honors), by then-President Sopo at the conclusion of his term. For her part in the celebration, Chief of State Kuramia wrote a touching speech to "Aexnirandal," focusing praise not on his work in the various offices he holds and held, but rather, colorfully, on his being "that friend who sticks with you through the really shitty times," who "[makes] you feel as if you're more than just a fellow player in Europeia," and that he is someone who "cares not just about Europeia, but also about the people in the region." Despite having his name unintentionally thrice misspelled, Aex seemed in good spirits, and welcomed the honor. Others gave speeches as well (including a notable story about eating incense), all remarking on his ability to be a decent friend and human being in the face of hardships during his terms, as well as providing what he could to the region. The event concluded Sunday night, with much at rest.

April the First
Monday brought quite the shakedown, however, as Rand Chastain, First Minister, declared an Executive Order that decreed a Robespierre-style hunt for those who might "seek to destroy public liberty, either by force or by cunning," among others, in order "To Protect the Democracy and Freedom of the Republic of Europeia." This led to the creation of The Committee of Public Safety, which became headed by Drecq, current Vice Chancellor. Ostensibly, this led to many beheadings and a restoration of peace in a time of revolution. On Wednesday, to much surprise, Rand himself was found "Incredibly, Indelibly, Indubitubly [sic] Guilty on All Counts" of "endanger[ing] the public liberty," where he was sentenced to death, and The Committee was subsequently dissolved. With its dissolution, peace was once again found in France Europeia.

Foreign Affairs
Also on Wednesday, Sopo, Council of State and Europeia forum admin, announced he was stepping down from his role of Minister of Foreign Affairs, indicating that he had mentioned doing so to Kuramia prior to the public. In his post, he expressed satisfaction with his deputies Deepest House and Whitmark for their roles in "spearhead[ing] … communications efforts" and "maintain[ing] the ambassador corps," respectively, among other duties. He also showed a trust in Kuramia's leadership, stating that he was confident she will be "well-positioned to serve her administration well." In Sopo's place, a nomination for Deepest House, currently Vice Chancellor and Discord moderator, has been called for by Kuramia, with support from Senator and Council of State Common Sense Politics, claiming House is an "able administrator and a thoughtful, trustworthy public servant … [while] simultaneously a consummate professional and an outspoken critic of bullshit wherever he may find it." At the time of writing it is not known whether he'll get the bill.

Good write.

I really thought the April Fools event was a nice idea. Wish I could have gotten involved more.
