4/26 @ 3:08 PM PST: This is the thread where ENN will be publishing our Senate whip count for the upcoming Chief of State election. As you can see, directly all Senators as well as Speaker Lloenflys are congregated in the center of the Senatia Chambers, with nobody lined up behind either candidate's banner. As public declarations are made, ENN will update this whip tracker. Soft projections will be indicated by the Chief candidate's color outlining the Senatorial figures, while solid colored Senatorial figures represent a firm (probably public) commitment being made.

4/26 @ 7:11 PM PST: Okay, after doing some renovations to the Senate hall we have the Olde Delaware / Izzy ticket officially on the board. Olde Delaware is also officially to have any Senator in his corner, with Senator Olde Delaware tentatively lining up behind the OD banner. It's possible Olde Delaware will announce he will abstain like past candidates JayDee and Darcness, but for now that's where he is!

4/29 @ 6:30 PM PST: Yeehaw. So we undid the Senate remodel, and once again have a symmetrical looking Senate. Because there was very little public information, ENN reached out to all Senators to ask them for their current stance with the promise of anonymity. Seven of the eight Senators got back to us for this update, and of those: two were currently leaning toward Sopo, two were leaning toward Malashaan and three were completely undecided. Sopo appears to be struggling because his vision of reform differs from the Senators, with one Senator saying on background: "Sopo’s pledge to outright veto any reform proposal that includes a hard cap has resulted in my reevaluating his candidacy." To be fair, Malashaan does not seem to be in favor of the hard cap either, but hasn't as far as I know threatened a veto.

5/1 @ 9:38 AM PST: Okay, not the most exciting update in the world but we heard back from the previously unresponsive Senator who replied that they were completely undecided. An interesting twist: the prospect has been raised of simply abstaining on the vote, apparently due to broad dissatisfaction of both candidates' stances on reform, which would lower the threshold each candidate would need to win. ENN will be doing a fill re-canvass of the Senate after the debate.

5/1 @ 9:36 PM PST: Some small but meaningful changes in advance of, and in the aftermath of the debate. As announced on ENN's Debate Liveblog, Senator Olde Delaware is committing to Malashaan. In addition, an anonymous Senator who had previous been leaning Sopo became a strong Sopo supporter. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, one completely undecided Senator shifted to leaning toward Sopo. For the first time, a majority of the Senate has expressed some kind of preference between the candidates, though it remains an extremely close race where anything can happen.

5/2 @ 9:18 AM PST: The second formal endorsement came this morning, with Senator Rotasu endorsing Malashaan. This is a significant loss for Sopo, as Rotasu (we now have permission to say) was previously telling ENN that he was leaning toward Sopo. While Rotasu told ENN that he thought Sopo did edge out Malashaan in the debate last night, hearing Malashaan's ideas fleshed out did solidify his intention to vote for him. As of right now, Malashaan has two public endorsements from Senators while Sopo has none -- though one Senator has anonymously told ENN that they are strongly in Sopo's camp.

5/2 @ 6:45 PM PST: So, this round we have some good news for both candidates -- though the news is a little better for Malashaan. One Senator has moved from lean to strongly behind Sopo. On the other hand, a completely undecided Senator is now leaning toward Malashaan.

It's difficult to parse how significant Malashaan's tentative lead is, because (1) we have little sense on how loyal his "lean" voters are and (2) for citizens, there's still an incredible fog of war over the entire process. Only Senators Olde Delaware and Rotasu have publicly announced their preferences -- both for Malashaan. At this point, you'd obviously prefer to be Malashaan, but this race is far from over.

5/2 @ 8:56 PM PST: We actually have a similar update to 6:45 PM, but with the roles reversed. One Senator who was previously leaning toward Malashaan now says they are solidly behind Malashaan. On the other hand, a Senator who was previously undecided now tells ENN that they are leaning toward Sopo.

In ENN's count, Malashaan is now leading by one vote both when you look at overall support, and when you include leaners. Obviously, you'd rather be ahead, but this race is way too close to call. According to our analysis, the final decision as to Europeia's next Chief of State is now in the hands of the two Senators who have told ENN they are undecided or declined to give us information. Of course, with the official voting just hours away, anything can happen.

Will you have a 9th silhouette added to the tracker for when the by-election ends?

Oof, I just now realized the top one is the Speaker.

This is fun!!!

You're gonna have to fit OBee somewhere in that graphic now 😛

Ah glad to see the ENN take this up. I was hoping I'd be able to do something like this but another busy week at work. Anyway this is far prettier than anything I could do!

Nice update to the graphic -- yeah, OD being a Senator isn't a lock for a vote in his favor (he could abstain), but as a tie-breaker (which has precedent in the past) it could be powerful.
