This time the race is unexpected, with the sudden rise in the polls of Whitmark Insoumise Party (Left Wing) of Former Presidential candidate Marianne Thieme, after loosing the election and not making it to the run off in 2018, Thieme launched her bid to become the new mayor of Amsterdam, the second ranking political position in importance in Whitmark. These results are remarkably important for Whitmark's political conjuncture, since Whitmark Insoumise is shaping up strongly for mid-year legislative elections. This defeat is very important especially for President Van der Oranje, who played it all with his ally Halsema. Will another partisan collapse come for Groenlinks? Another readjustment of political forces in our political system? The exit polls showed that the young men and women who elected Van der Oranje chose Thieme. Only 681 votes made the difference. At 12:53am Halsema conceded the race at her campaign HQ at the Hilton Hotel with 100% of the vote counted and called on her supporters to support the next mayor of Amsterdam. Shortly after that, Thieme thanked her supporters overcoming defeat in the presidential race and positioning Whitmark Insoumise nationwide. Whitmark Insoumise also won the Mayoralty of Rotterdam, The Hague and Brussels, taking those from the Groenlinks.
