EBC Radio Senate Election Panel Discusses the Senate and its Future
An Overview of the Senate Election Panel

On June 9, Assemblyman and renowned politician Notolecta gathered with fellow Assemblyman Cpt. Carrot and former President Sopo for an exciting and hilarious Senate Election Panel.

"I generally think it's best if anybody who wants to run does, even if they feel like they are not ready,” said Sopo.

The Panel opened with a discussion of the current Senate, Europeia’s 49th Senate to be exact. All three of the Panel members decided that there really wasn't much going on to be talked about. Sopo did finally manage to find something when he brought up freshman Senator Cool Springs. Senator Cool Springs performance this term disappointed Sopo; after hard work and dedication, Cool Spring finally won election to the Senate. Then did nothing this term. At all.

The Panel then moved to Senator, and Associate Justice, McEntire. McEntire has simply disappeared. The Panel expressed their frustration because he is also on Court and Senator McEntire hasn't logged on since June 1.

The Panel then moved onto the current candidates for Europeia's 50th Senate. Ex-President Sopo had stated that there are 7 viable candidates out of 9, and that no matter who is elected, we will end up with an "okay Senate.”

The Panel started off with the obvious candidates for re-election. The Panel unanimously agreed Drecq will. Other candidates entered into the category of "obviously (re-)elected" are HEM and Kraketopia.

The Panel discussed the list of members who have stood for election, starting with Kraketopia. Sopo explained his concern that Kraken will be in three branches once again. While Sopo has no major problem with Kraketopia being in all three branches, he did not that it could cause some conflicts.

Next they decided that HEM pops in and out of involvement, but even so, it probably will not affect his vote. One question that was asked was how will HEM's platform go? Apparently, due to sources, he has a lot of "radical" ideas. HEM is the founder of the region and is incredibly involved to safeguard its integrity. So it will be interesting to see what legislation he will put before the Senate.

After discussing HEM, the Panel decided to take a little break, while remaining on task. It was quite brilliant honestly. But the following questions were asked; Who is Moly? Are they male? Female? Why is Shurfordbrian's name so weird? What happened to Daves 1-21? Writinglegend thinks Moly is male. Also, why is it Moly and not Molly? Mole-y?

After that little spout of weirdness, the Panel moved to Shufordbrian. This candidate may have had a shot but the Panel decided that his platform is lacking and he wants to legislate things the Senate cannot do, which shows lack of understanding.

Kaboomlandia hasn't done a lot in the region according to Sopo, but he shows promise and his platform isn't too terribly bad. This conversation then led to how, at this point, Europeia is essentially searching for "not terrible candidates.” According to the Panel, Euro has been lacking in talent for a few terms, and it appears this term will not be different.

After Kaboomlandia, the panel discussed rookie candidate zapperzx. zapperzx has put in a lot of hard work and has been active. His platform is good and he seems eager. Sopo has one piece of advice for zapper: "replacing *smash rocks* is not a good idea.”

The panel discussed candidate Prometheus, questioning his status as a legal candidate. Was his citizenship removed by mistake?

Then we lead to Shadowlurker. Shadow has been in Euro for a while, and has come and gone. Notolecta was caught saying he knows Shadow, but honestly doesn't remember anything significant about him, or his Senate terms. Other than that, no one else had an opinion.

"Brunhilde almost certainly will win" said the Panel. Brun has been in the Senate before, she is a strong leader, and she is known through the region.

This concluded the Panel’s discussion of candidates, followed by free discussion by the Panel.

Additional topics covered by the panel include Notolecta’s surprise that nine people stood for Senate, that the next Senate election should hopefully be better than the current election, that perhaps Starstream Tribe and Fortunado maybe would run if they were not in Cabinet.

Concluding the Panel, President Writinglegend suggested that Common-Sense Politics and Malashaan run for office. Notolecta disagreed. "I kind of feel like if he was running, we'd be stupid to elect him," he said when discussing Common-Sense Politics' activity. The final thoughts were on Rachel and a potential candidacy from her summed up with the thinking if it is a joke campaign, she wins. If it's a real campaign, she loses.

Stay tuned to the EBC for additional election coverage.

You can't rewrite history.

Might take a listen later. Sounds interesting. We really need to address the issue with Prometheus' citizenship and candidacy.

If this panel was done on mixlr then I think it should include audio snippets (and it appears we have -a lot- to include). Someone else will need to create the audio snippets to YouTube as I am running a bare bones OS off RAM.

Not a bad idea.
