TNP Sees Several New Candidates after Re-Opening Nominations

The initial vote for the Delegacy of The North Pacific has led to a re-opening of nominations; the vote closed last Wednesday, September 11. Following a last-minute dropout by former candidate Comfed, the choice for voters was between re-opening nominations and Blue Wolf II, who is also known as Evil Wolf, founder of Lone Wolves United. Since the re-opening of nominations, several new candidates have entered the race. As of now, the confirmed candidates consist of: Pallaith (aka Ghost), Picairn, Dreadton, and Blue Wolf II.

The election's topics naturally center around the policy plans for their executive, mainly Home Affairs, the North Pacific Army, Culture, World Assembly, Media, and their war against the Brotherhood of Malice. Most candidates have faced some questioning on their policies and proposed governing style, although no especially fierce debate seems to have erupted yet. Voting opens today, September 14, and will close on Thursday, September 19.

NPO and LWU Sign Treaty

A statement from Empress Xoriet of the New Pacific Order (government of The Pacific) has announced the signing of a treaty with Lone Wolves United titled: "The Infiltrators Make The Best Workers Wolfpact". Most significantly, the treaty binds both signatories to military defense of one another's recognised territories (article 2, clause c), as well as defensive intelligence cooperation (article 3, clause b) among other things. Xoriet states in the announcement that: "After many years of close friendship and cooperation on shared goals in NationStates, the New Pacific Order and Lone Wolves United have come together to sign a treaty. Ideological differences have no bearing on mutual respect shared by parties who look past the limitation of alignment and to the value of the relationships in question."

The Rejected Realms has elected Toerana, more commonly known as BowShot, to the Delegacy. The runner-up was mad jack is rejected aka MadJack, who lost by 5 out of a total of 23 votes. The previous and currently still de facto Delegate is Dakota aka Salem, who currently sits at 192 endorsements, giving BowShot 70 endorsements to accrue to take over the position. The EBC congratulates BowShot on their victory, and wishes them the best for their tenure.

People's Assembly Opens Discussion on "Joint Delegacy-Presidencies"

Recently elected chair of the People's Assembly King HEM has opened discussion on his proposed resolution of "Discouraging the Joint Delegacy-Presidency." In light of the recent self-renomination by President UPC for the position of World Assembly Delegate of Europeia, HEM says: "If I were in the Senate, I probably would have abstained on the question of his nomination. But I do not think this is a precedent we should encourage going forward. I am not committed to a specific limitation per se, but I would like further discussion on this issue." As the title suggests, the resolution would serve as a statement of discouragement to citizens holding both the Presidency and the World Assembly Delegacy at the same time, citing concerns over "potentially perilous incentives where the President can endow himself with significant, extremely durable, gameplay authority."

While appointed by the President and serving at their pleasure for casting the Europeian WAD vote, the Delegate also performs gameside security functions as chair of the Regional Security Council, over which the President does not have the supreme authority they enjoy for most executive sectors. In response to the PA discussion, the Senate has also opened discussion on the matter, proposing an amendment restricting Presidents from nominating themselves for the Delegacy, while still allowing renominations (such as the UPC case).

Executive Passes Mid-Term

The current Europeian Executive has now been serving for 43 days of their 70 day term, meaning the mid-term point has been passed. Several ministers have already released their mid-term addresses, with which they are joined by President UPC, who has done the same. President UPC addressed the Republic with some personal news, before addressing Executive activity generally, stating: "This has been another pretty remarkable term so far, and I am so proud of what my Cabinet and their staff have been able to accomplish. I am going to reiterate some of the highlights here, but I really recommend that you check out the Half-Blood Herald [1, 2, 3, 4], where GK and I have been keeping track of all of the cool stuff we have been doing week by week."

The EBC will soon be conducting Mid-Term Executive polling to gather responses from the Europeian public on their evaluation of the government's performance so far. You can read the following ministry Mid-Term Addresses as they have been published already: Gameside Mid-Term; World Assembly Affairs Mid-Term; ERN Mid-Term; AG Mid-Term. For the other addresses, keep an eye on the respective ministries' subforums!

World Assembly

The proposal that's currently up for vote in the General Assembly is titled "Psychiatric Care Act." The proposal seeks to protect the rights of incarcerated individuals to receive appropriate mental healthcare and safeguard the quality thereof. The vote will end in approximately four days from now, so be sure to keep an eye out for the upcoming IFV in the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs subforum!

In the Security Council, Injunct Kelios is at vote. As with the last SC resolution, which was Liberate Kelios, this proposal concerns the safeguarding of the region against an invading force of raiders. The Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote for this proposal, stating: "This proposal aims to prevent the total submission of Kelios to Raider Forces, without which Kelios would be prone to a forcible takeover through a raider-led Governor transition." Make sure to read the full IFV in the MoWAA subforum!
