Eurochoice 2021: A Review
A year through the lense of superlatives

The Europeian (Choice) Awards, commonly referred to as EuroChoice Awards, are an annual event and a regular occurrence since 2008 celebrating those who did their best in the year behind us. The EuroChoice Awards 2021 were announced in Minister of Culture Sanjurika's midterm address on January 3.

Preparations included the Organization of Independent Media (OIM) and its Europeian of the Year 2021 Project where several writers would highlight the various individuals who they would like to nominate for Europeian of the Year. The OIM also hosted a 'Best Private Media of 2021' thread, serving as a helpful reminder to all citizens who wished to nominated their favourite private media articles and outlets.

Minister Sanjurika opened the event on January 16 and announced that the nomination period would last until January 20, while voting would then follow for the next three days. Nomination categories notably included Citizen of the Year, Rising Star of the Year, and President of the Year.

To add to the festival atmosphere, Razzies made a comeback to EuroChoice, with less serious categories like Funniest Europeian and Friendliest Europeian. The winners were chosen in a live radio broadcast . The Ministry of Culture also organized games including spam games and the one word story "What will HEM do in 2022?" that will be read live on Radio. As an incentive for the "Count to 2022" spam game, Minister of Interior Calvin Coolidge offered to read one episode of an anime that the citizens chose.

On January 23, minutes after voting closed, a two-part radio show was hosted announcing all the winners of the EuroChoice Awards. Notably, UPC and Calvin Coolidge were tied for Citizen of the Year, while Calvin won President of the Year and Sanjurika received the Rising Star of the Year award.

I enjoyed it, always one of my favourite times of the year.

Thank you for the recap, Sky, and congratulations once more to the awardees!
