All:

Two weeks ago, we announced a new Discord policy so we could gain greater control over who has access to our Discord server in order to better protect the community. We would like to thank the members of the community who provided well-considered feedback on how we could further improve the policy. In view of that feedback, we are implementing an updated policy, effective immediately.

Moving forward, new server members will only be able to view an access request channel, #europeia_station. No other role on the server will have access to this channel. Thus, new members will not be able to see who else is on the server or access their Discord IDs through the server.

To gain access to the rest of the server, new members will have to provide their Discord ID to the Admin Team in this off-index forum. The forum is setup so that individuals other than the Admin team can only see threads that they started. In other words, Discord IDs will also not be accessible to other members through the forum. You are all free to share your Discord IDs in your profile if you wish, but this is no longer required. As with the previous policy change, those of you who are already on the Discord server will not be required to provide your Discord IDs on the forum, but we encourage you to do so.

UPDATE: As of June 12, 2018, we will require all members of our Discord server to register by provided their Discord ID in a thread in the this off-index forum. Any account found in the server that is not registered will be kicked as of that date.

We remain cognizant that immediate access to Discord has value to the community, particularly with regard to integration. We are committed to providing quick review of requests and are open to suggestions about how we can streamline the process without compromising the security of the system.

If you have any questions, we will be more than happy to answer them.

Signed,
The Admin Team

These are excellent changes. The response from the admin team when concerns were brought up is great! :)

Wonderful! <3 Thank you for taking the time to do these extra steps!

All:

It has become apparent that the sheer number of accounts in our server of unknown or uncertain identity that were grandfathered in when we announced this policy is an obstacle to achieving our objective of a safe environment for all of you. We therefore have decided to perform a sweep of the server and remove any account for which we cannot verify the identity of the owner. To avoid being kicked from the server, please register by providing your full Discord ID in a thread in the off-index registration forum. Ideally, your Discord ID will appear in the thread title and the content of the first post.

We will be kicking any accounts that are not registered on or shortly after June 12 to give people time to come into compliance. If you do get kicked, it is nothing to worry about. Simply complete registration by posting in the registration forum per the policy and rejoin the server. There will be no other consequences.

The original post in this thread has been updated to reflect the updated policy.

In addition, we are working on a bot to automate and streamline the process. We know it is currently a little clunky. We made the decision that addressing the security concerns quickly was more important than developing the perfect system before launch. We appreciate your understanding as we now refine the process.

I think it's good we reverted back to having our ID's listed; it does make things more secure.
