Calvin: Are you really running?

Verteger: Can confirm.

A brief confirmation after an out-of-nowhere Discord announcement made it official: Verteger is running for President, joining the already announced candidates Lloenflys and Sopo. To gather details about what the Verteger/Ervald ticket will look like in the upcoming election, I sat down with Verteger and present our conversation to you.

Calvin: Great, let's get the biggest question out of the way first. With the tickets that have announced so far having such a commanding presence in the region, what do you view as the place in the race for your ticket?

Verteger: Well first off thank you for the time and for the platform. I will say that I have a tremendous amount of respect for the other announced tickets so far, and I think anyone in the running would be a fantastic leader for our region's next steps. As for myself, I am more than aware that this is a long-shot ticket, the darkest of dark horses. But I hope to use this opportunity to continue to generate new ideas, advance novel discussions, and to grow as a person and a player.

Calvin: I'm sure that your platform will talk about those new ideas at length, but can we get a brief sample of what one of those ideas looks like?

Verteger: I will say the philosophy of the platform is grounded in the "business as usual" approach - there are many areas of our region that are functionally incredibly well, and we have a litany of specialists and experts who are excelling in their positions. I will say that I do not claim to be an expert in anything, but intend to lean on experts regarding their content areas. That said, I do think there are areas that present opportunities. Some of those will be taking culture in a different direction, some of those will be scaling back and refining initiatives in other areas that I believe had a lot of initial success but need to be readjusted going forward. Tweaks can be the difference between success and failure in many initiatives. The most important part, in my opinion, is maintaining the momentum and success of those areas that frankly don't need to be tweaked. Many of our best ministries just need to keep the ball rolling.

Calvin: Definitely a good place to start for those discussions, looking forward to watching them play out during the course of this election. What do you view as the attributes that Ervald brings to the ticket?

Verteger: Many people might not know this, but Ervald and I actually have a good, longstanding working relationship. He makes for a great VP candidate by being open to wacky ideas, but grounded enough to vet them and make them workable. He's been a great confidant, a brilliant creative mind, and someone I place a great deal of trust in. He was immediately at the top of my list for the VP slot, given the quality of our interactions and the importance that I place on communal decision-making.

Calvin: A great pair goes a long way in making a ticket successful, of course, so that is good to hear. Now, the last time you ran on a ticket, you dropped out before voting day, and your platform was then carried to the finish line by your deputy. You in it for the long haul this time around?

Verteger: Absolutely. The last run, and the following drop-out, was one the career low points for me. I was exhausted, broken, and depressed. After an event like that, I decided to stop and take stock about how I wanted to go forward and how to balance my commitments to both this game and to myself. Since then, I feel as though I have no only been an active member of the community, but a contributor. I feel positive about how my senate term has been going, and I know that I've surprised quite a few people with it (myself included, sometimes!). I'm absolutely in this for the long-haul.

Calvin: I think that covers all the basic information to get people excited about a Verteger/Ervald ticket, is there anything you wanted to get out in the open before we call it an interview?

Verteger: I just want everyone to remember to have fun! That's why we're all here. And you know the best way to have fun? #Vote4Vert

Thank you for reading this breaking news announcement and interview. Until next time this is Calvin Coolidge, ready for a contested election.

This really surprised me, as both Ervald and Vert said that they would be less available after August...? So this was surprising. Regardless though, glad to see another ticket out and now GraV and UV will have to do Chasing Gold lol

Best of luck! Looking forward to a good race.

As I've said twice before, I would support anyone who has said they are running including Verteger and Head surrounded by men.
