Commend Grea Kriopia - A Review

For some January 18, 2020, was just a regular saturday, for Grea Kriopia (GK) it was the beginning of a saga that would leave a strong impact on NationStates. Washing ashore 10000 Islands (XKI), GK started her career in this region, rising in rank in the Ten Thousand Island Treaty Organization (TITO), becoming a household name in The Grey Wardens, flexing her culture skills in TRR, and once she joined Europeia, quickly settling into 21 Tomlinson Street, while also acquiring an additional residence at 34 Goldenblock Avenue, where she has served as Vice President for the last three terms. In this article, the EBC will aim to provide a review of GK's numerous achievements to celebrate her commendation in late July. The EBC has reached out to multiple players familiar with GK for more information.

As mentioned, GK started her career in XKI, where she quickly got involved thanks to then Cultural Officer Human Sanity (HS). This led her to take over the department after HS stepped down from the role. He describes the situation at the time of GK's joining as so "[...] XKI had a real dearth of young and motivated talent, plus not a lot of project-building going on in general." GK was eager to pursue plans for expanding the Culture Program in XKI, culminating with the organization of the first ever XKI Summer Olympics in 2020, a month long festival in June with numerous events and rewards.
GK would later go on to handle a passionate reconstruction of the Great Library of XKI, which serves as the archive for many topics such as history, campaigns, legislation and more. Furthermore, GK's work in TITO was incredibly impactful as it meant the start of the organization's modernization and she has continued to make an impact on defenderdom through her actions, best described by westinor "I think what goes unnoticed about GK is just how impactful in making lowkey decisions she is in defending". Aschente (Asche) describes his first impression of GK as a "strong up and coming defender" which he believes was a thought shared with the rest of TITO command. He characterizes her as a "force to be reckoned with on all sides" and says that "Part of [him] has always been curious about what TITO would be like if she stuck around" with her only drawback being that "she didn't have the rank to do everything she wanted."

GK marched on with her career, joining the Order of the Grey Wardens (TGW) where she became First Warden, signing important treaties with regions such as the League, and Europeia, which would serve to expand TGW's diplomatic network. Described as an "organizational genius" by westinor, GK worked in defenderdom's Partnership for Sovereignty (PfS) in order to utilize it's World Assembly (WA) network and organize resources for subsequent drafting, mentoring, and outreach. She continued her work as a defender, participating in the Sunland refound where she "pretty much single-handedly set up the refound infrastructure" for a successful refound, and similarly in the case of the Realm of Whispering Winds, where she co-authored the liberation and ensured that the raider threat was thwarted.

I will say that I found GK pretty intimidating at the time. I still do, actually, but I definitely did then.

GK's contributions in TGW do not stop at her exceptional participation in defending. She is "uniquely aware of how mentorship relations and building up leadership in NS [...] works" which has led to her guiding and elevating a series of delegates to over 100 endorsements in TGW. She has also been pivotal in the organization of the Defender Olympics the past three years as well as the Liberty Gala.

Finally, we come to Europeia, where on January 6 2024, GK stormed the Capitol applied to become a citizen in Europeia. She quickly became involved in the Ministry of Culture, helping organize the Vorhollah Triumph Celebration, and participating in the EBC both as an author and on radio. This quickly led to a nomination and a month later GK became Minister of Radio under President JayDee and Vice President Vor, where she ended the term with 100% approval. Upon inquiry, JayDee mentioned that he had already been familiar with GK by the time she joined Euro, which made him confident enough to nominate her. He says that despite his "high expectations, she ended up exceeding them and it's not surprise that she ended up in our region's second highest office only a term later." Furthermore he describes her as a "Hard worker who is also highly competent." Her success was well-known in the region, leading to another nomination as Minister of Culture during the first President UPC term, with Vice President Sanjurika. While Culture and Radio are not the same, GK's approval in both terms sure was leading to yet another 100% approval at the end of the term. President UPC describes it "When Sanju let me know that he didn't want to be VP again, I knew that I wanted to put GK in the seat." And as all good things come in threes, this decision was met positively as well, leading to a third 100% satisfaction rate, which contributed to the re-election of UPC/GK in August, with a whopping 54 vote (81.8%) support.

Speaking only for myself, I can say that not only has she been excellent at keeping me on track, but working with her just makes NS more fun.

In response to the EBC's questions, President UPC says "Having GK by my side has been such a privilege, I really am just so grateful that I've gotten this chance to work with her". GK has also been actively involved in several ministry, showcasing that an active Vice President can make a big difference in the success of a cabinet, as UPC comments "I can't think of a single facet of this administration's success that she hasn't played some part in, and I can think of plenty of areas where she has been more consequential than I."

After a clearer overview of Grea Kriopia, it seems that all those graced with the chance to see her at work are thoroughly impressed. With GK being not only a prolific NS player but also an incredibly successful citizen of Europeia with a perfect track record as Vice President, it remains to be seen what the full extent of her work will be on our region and the wider NS community.

As an NS hermit, I really like articles like this because they really make me appreciate just how lucky we are and how talented these players are
