The People's Assembly has been known as a body with occasional internal distress. Oftentimes, long periods of time can go by when absolutely nothing passes through its orfice at all.
In the past month, the People's Assembly has made the decision to try to better regulate itself. This package passed through the People's Assembly by a vote of 10-6 and plooped right into the grand bowl of the Senate.
But the Senate is unsure about whether the People's Assembly should be able to take the next step and be permitted to clean up their own messes or not.
Speaker Gem has been the most keen to withhold the toilet paper, asserting the Senate's right to micromanage the body's most intimate affairs.
"It is the responsibility of the Senate to vigorously discuss any and all legislation that appears before it. We have not been elected to rubber stamp something because 10 citizens support it," they asserted from the Senate floor.
Senator Comfed has agreed, that just because the Assembly has had a passage, doesn't mean the Senate has to allow them a clean sweep.
"Without meaning to denigrate the PA as an institution, I would say that the fact that it represents the 'will of the people' is irrelevant to the constitutional role of the Senate," He said while sitting on a throne of Charmin Ultra rolls.
The Senate vote currently remains ongoing.
