Having discussed the issue of our official policy of posting IP addresses further over the last few days, this post announces a different policy to the one I previously suggested. In the interest of administrative efficiency, we ask that nobody posts IP addresses (even their own) and we will remove them if they are posted moving forward. It's fine to share them in private should you wish to do so.
While it may seem restrictive to not be allowed to post your own IP address, we think that in this instance, there is value in having the simplest policy possible, both from an enforcement policy and in aiding everyone to know exactly what the rule is. This is especially true here where there is no real reason for anyone to share any IP addresses on the forum.
