E-News Network - "Activity on the Decline"
Written by HEM Tiberius

The last posting month, spanning from May 8th to June 8th has been the most inactive month since February 2009, administrative bureau officials reveal.

While the admin team has not released the official number, the last month fell below some of the most inactive months of the last year, including last winter and the summer before that.

Many in Europeia dispute the often cited system of "post counts" to measure activity, as spam and frivolous OOC discussion is well weighted within this measure. However, the most exciting times in the region are also the most active.

While election season drives questions about foreign policy, navy excursions and the structure of the Europeian government, minds and thoughts will have to turn to how the next administration can build up post counts again in the region.

Or maybe it's the fact that people are coming down with "AA Syndrome."
The game gets so regimented and covered in red tape, it's no longer fun and you just stop playing. Maybe it's time for an overhaul.

How hard would it be to calculate post counts by area?

Spam and the Republic Square account for a large fraction of total posts -- or at least they did. Activity in the RS has been waning for a while; if spam has declined too, that would go a long way toward explaining the drop. I view the drop in the RS as a legitimate issue; perhaps we should ask presidential candidates about it. I could give a s--t about the spam forums.

This is unfortunate, but not unexpected. I was very busy the last three weeks of school, so my post count probably wasn't that high.

I think it's too soon to say whether or not this is a trend. I've noticed that activity has declined in almost all regions over the past month. For now I'm attributing it to the end of school for many students, since students make up the bulk of the NS population. Should inactivity continue then I suppose I'll turn out to have been wrong. I do think it might be wise to take a wait and see approach, at least for the next couple of weeks, to see if this is really a problem that needs a government fix or just natural inactivity due to RL time constraints.

Again, I don't think post count is a particularly telling statistic. We've had some great cultural work from Lethen and his team this term. We've had a very active Navy. The EAAC is buzzing. Vinage has kept WA-related initiatives relevant to the average Joe who may not have considered them before. I think we're in very good shape right now, especially in terms of the opportunities for activity offered to the citizenry by the government.
