A Tour of the Pacifics
Overview of Regional Politics and Relations

Region: The West Pacific

Current Delegate: Bran Astor
Raider/Defender/Independent/Neutral Stance: Independent
Allied with Europeia
Governing Structure: The West Pacific (TWP) is a meritocracy where the Delegate has all sovereign authority over the region and its government, also having the final say over all relevant decisions. Guardians and Ministers are appointed and dismissed by the Delegate as needed. There is also an advisory Cabinet formed by the four Ministers, namely: Cultural Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Military Affairs, and World Assembly Recruitment. It is important to note that, although the region has a meritocratic government, elections happen every 3 months for Speaker of the Hall of Nations and Deputy Ministers for each ministry. Every Hall of Nations member can run for these positions or simply cast their vote.
Recent events in the region: The May Elections happened recently, with higher voter turnout than previous recent elections. The region also jointly hosted the Burning Marsupial event last month with The East Pacific.

Everyday activities and regional interests:
The West Pacific has a much stronger focus on games, photography, and recreational writing on their Discord, rather than as heavy a focus on the political topics in casual chat. However in saying that, they do also have a strong military culture in raiding with The West Pacific Armed Forces, and a keen interest in World Assembly affairs. Their Discord server has a lot more diversity in their subgroups, and a lot of activity on a wider array of things, from a D&D game room, to a karaoke voice channel. They also have a strong focus on encouraging writers, but rather than a news outlet like the Europeian Broadcasting Corporation that has ongoing content based on trending topics and discussion, they write for The West Pacifican, a monthly newsletter detailing events, activities, and current affairs.

The West Pacific also has a strong tradition of opposing General Assembly proposals, mainly due to their belief that the GA hinders game mechanics and political control over one's nation. Thus, they tend to oppose GA proposals and support the repeals of most resolutions.

Region: The South Pacific

Current Delegate: Aumeltopia
Raider/Defender/Independent/Neutral Stance: Defender
Governing Structure: Democracy + long-term guardians with the council on regional security
Recent events in the region: A new WA focused ministry is in development. The South Pacific (TSP) also recently expanded their South Pacific University into a separate discord, focusing on skill-building and discussion channels based on various hobbies and areas of expertise such as cooking, history, and graphic design.

Everyday activities and regional interests: The South Pacific has a lively role-play that spans several different themes and builds upon the "canon" of TSP history. TSP has focused recently on developing its military and advancing defender ideals, recently electing a new Minister of Military Affairs. The South Pacific also emphasizes Regional Sovereignty, which helps drive its R/D stance as a Defender.

Region: The Pacific / New Pacific Order (NPO)

Current Delegate: East Durthang
Raider/Defender/Independent/Neutral Stance: Neutral, Self-Interest
Governing Structure: Non-Elective Meritocracy, citizens are chosen to advance through their work and dedication to the region by the Emperor.
Recent events in the region: The NPO has recently signed an agreement with The South Pacific called Pax Capricorn, which emphasizes non-aggression and mutual cultural undertakings.

Everyday activities and regional interests: The Pacific has an outreach to several online games, such as Cybernations and Torn, as well as a few others. There is a focus on regional role-play called the Mega-Verse that takes place in their RMB. They also have a game called Think Same which pits two teams against each other in a trivia-style format. The NPO is somewhat closed off for non-citizens and can be difficult to "read" at times as members with any knowledge tend to be dedicated to the government and loyal to the region.

Region: The North Pacific

Current and Outgoing Delegate: McMasterdonia
Delegate-Elect: Prydania
Raider/Defender/Independent/Neutral Stance: Independent
Allied with Europeia
Governing Structure: Democracy, for the most part, a direct one. The main legislative organ or branch is the Regional Assembly, constituted by all of the citizens of The North Pacific (TNP). On the other side, the executive side is elected by the Regional Assembly, by a direct vote by the citizens of the region. This same system is followed for the election of Justices. Within the executive exists a meritocratic system in which the different ministries are divided and organized amongst this system of awards for activity or renown.
Recent events in the region: As for recent events, in the latest General Elections, Prydania was chosen as Delegate of The North Pacific, and the Incorporated Rum Pact between Lazarus and The North Pacific was recently ratified by the Regional Assembly

Everyday activities and regional interests: The North Pacific is the largest region in NationStates, hosting Strangereal, Eras, and other roleplay communities, the independently-aligned North Pacific Army, the TNP Cards Guild, the TNP University, an official games server, and one of the most active executive branches in the game, hosting seven ministries from Communications to Culture to Radio, and more. Festivals are frequent, occurring once or twice per term, and often help bring the whole of NationStates together. Examples include last year's WA Symposium or this year's upcoming Raidervision contest. Elections for Executive leadership and the Judicial branch occur once every four months, but are offset by two. Daily life within the region includes running the executive ministries, playing games, and discussing both real and in-game politics.

Region: The East Pacific

Current Delegate: Marrabuk
Delegate-Elect: Libertanny, also a Citizen in Europeia
Raider/Defender/Independent/Neutral Stance: Unaligned
Allied with Europeia
Governing Structure: The Delegate is directly elected to a term of four months and appoints Arbiters (Judiciary) and Viziers (Security), subject to confirmation by the unicameral legislative, the Magisterium.
Recent events in the region: The region just hosted another Paradoxical'20 event. It has reformed the way it celebrates its honoured citizens, from a Hall of Heroes to the Order of the Golden Ocelot. Efforts have been made out to reach out more diplomatically, especially to User-Created Regions such as ours.

Everyday activities and regional interests: The East Pacific (TEP) has government roleplay not too unfamiliar to Europeia, but very noteworthy is also its wide variety of cultural activity. It has three active roleplays on its RMB next to an active forum RP, a love for voice chats, of which recently there was one that lasted two days in a row (!), and of course (co-)hosted several festivals recently with one more to come soon.

This is a really handy overview of the key points about each of the Pacifics, as well as for broadly understanding their various cultures! Thanks Prim, and everyone who contributed.

I hope that this is a handful little guide and overview, especially as we invite TEP to play with us this weekend. Many thanks to Prim for facilitating this article and for his patience!

I like how you relied on people in a position to know stuff to write the different sections of this piece instead of doing what people usually do and try to create good content by knowing the bare minimum about a wide range of topics, entities, or personalities. While this piece isn't a deep dive, by any means, I think it's still important to point out. Bravo!
