Primarily known for it's laid back atmosphere and off-topic discussions, Balders politics have heated up with their first ever Statsminister election. The Statsminister is very similar to any regions President and Prime Minister. It was recently created to split the executive powers of the elected monarch. Fuzzy was appointed as the first Statsminister due to an error during the law formation.
The election saw three members campaign, the current Statsminister Fuzzy, the Speaker 34625197 and Royal Council member Isidor. C. Somerset run for the position. Voting initially saw Fuzzy building a commanding lead until controversy struck. Some of the citizens voting in the election did not realize only members of the application based legislation could vote. This didn't make a huge difference in terms of legitimacy because the voting was open and post based. This destroyed Fuzzy's lead and saw Isidor gain the lead 4-5-1.
But this wasn't the end to the controversy because in order to run, one needed to have been a member of the legislature for 3 continuous months. It turns out that Isidor hadn't been a member of the legislature either... which really mucks things about. Ironically, Rach had brought up because of how laid back the region was that it was the "marijuana region" a few weeks ago. Balder is finding out first time in a while that it quite enjoys the political stimulation but that it also needs more practice at getting this new election system right.
Currently, the issue is unresolved although most members including Fuzzy have stated they prefer re-opening elections. The King and the person running the election (Mcmasterdonia) have not yet weighed in.
